Not really that surprising that someone they are paying over $300k/year to would do something like this
He probably didn't even have to pay his own professional insurance.

Used private jet to take family and friends to Tampa and back-nice...but interesting if you read the whole document, references friends in Florida with "close ties" to JPF, JPF sent checks and they sent him $$ back- so he did not act alone-who might they be???
That's some RICO-sounding shite
ETA: Also, how disconnected from knowledge of their personal finances could his wife realistically be? A chartered plane for two football games, really?

Still can’t believe they ran McBride off.

I don’t think anybody is “ defending “ him or thinks he deserves anything but what our laws prescribe. I just think those of us who know him personally feel compassion for him and his family, are sad that he wrecked his own life and hope that eventually (after he pays for his crime) that he has a good meaningful life again with his family.

Same here. I think he really would have done some good for the system.

I have no idea what she knew, but am told she is from big time money- thus their ability to pay OLOL back and any fines...

don't know about the leadership, but a motherfricker making $300K annually and stealing money to boot, deserves to be arse raped in prison.
I've got people making 40K a year and raising kids, paying a mortgage, tuition, braces, etc. and not stealing. That he wasted such an opportunity and a gift of a job makes me want to kick the shite out of him.
100% this.
Every time a person person games the system, it gives just a little more validity to the “the system is broken” and “the one percenters are crooked” arguments.
An example needs to be made here. This jackass needs to be raked over the coals to let everyone know that people who “win the game”, then go in and start stealing won’t be tolerated ever.

Such irony. He actually did do ALOT of good while there. In addition to raising a ton of money for the Children's Hospital, he did some pretty incredible things for numerous patients and families -- and these weren't for just PR reasons.

Every time a foundation or charity does sketchy shite, it makes me think twice about donating. I don’t want my money to be pissed away on bullshite

He simply lost the fight against the good ole boy’s system. It is a shame because Baton Rouge and LA would be better with stronger healthcare leadership.

really how so? Look I have seen a lot of posters say they know him (I do not) and that he was a good guy, I believe this was likely the case, However, he stole from a Children's hospital and the motive appears to be pure greed..no drugs, no woman, no gambling issue. None of this is an excuse but they guy stole from a damn Children's hospital- for 8 years! To go on private jets etc. If his wife's family does not have major $$$ he likely goes away for a lot longer than the 3-4 years in news stories. How is he the victim here?

I'm not sure what you mean here.

Other than perhaps that last comment about the good ole boy network, I don't think anyone is saying he is a victim. Even he isn't saying that as he's come clean to investigators, etc. His "defenders" are only saying that he is a good guy who has done alot of good things in addition to these obvious wrongs we've recently found out about.

SECballfan I was referencing Mike McBride not JP

Rich people don’t go to jail for shite like this. He’ll plead guilty for probation and restitution.

He wired money across state lines
He laundered money (see above and Fla connection)
He stole from a children hospital and its foundation for 6 years
He took family and friends on private jet trips at expense of hospital
He stole from nuns
His wife's family is very rich..but he WILL do time, period, no way around it..maybe only a few years but he will live in Oakdale et. al. for a time

Assume you are right (I have no clue) her family is LOADED and it appears much of the money he stole went to things other than the house- private jet flights, saints games etc. FWIW if they file taxes jointly (assume they do) she could get some legal action as well...but doubt she will

go back to the original thread. There was at least one person defending the shite out of him.
and I don't see how you can begin to have sympathy for the guy. I knew him at LSU. Served on the IFC with him. He was a good dude.
But this is unforgivable and worthy of suspension of good will- present or future. Not just because of what he did, but given the fact that there was no reason to do it. As pointed out- no drugs, gambling, hookers, etc. JUST PURE GREED.
And not greed because he was some broke dick working a shitty job. Or had a sick kid. Or was a disadvantaged ghetto dweller and never had a shot. He is pretty much the definition of "having it all" and still couldn't help steal. I liked the JPF I knew at LSU. frick this guy, he can rot in a cell.
