Poor kid

quote:

Ka Mauri Harrison, a fourth grader at Woodmere Elementary in Harvey, was taking a virtual class in his bedroom when his younger brother came into the room and tripped over a BB gun. The 9-year-old leaned away from his English test, grabbed the unloaded weapon and put it next to his chair, away from his brother but in view of the computer camera that showed the scene to his teacher and classmates.

...

According to interviews and documents from the Jefferson school system, the incident began when Ka Mauri was online for a language arts lesson. Because he was taking a test, he muted the computer. At the same time, his brother, with whom he shares a room, was playing in the room and tripped over the BB gun, which was lying on the floor.

"Harrison left his seat [at home] momentarily, out of view of the teacher," a school behavior report says. "When the student returned, he had what appeared to be a full-sized rifle in his possession."

That's ridiculous. What 4th grade boy doesn't have a BB gun? If i was that kid's father I'd go raise hell.

If there is any justice in the world, it will be a Daisy Red Ryder BB gun. They will get a lawyer and he can go on TV and do a press conference at which time he will work in a reference to shooting an eye out.

Can some one explain how schools came to this realization that they control whatever we have in our homes?

They keep saying that the students on video have to comply with rules as if they are physically in the classroom. But just because they say it doesn't make it true. I will cite people doing work video cons and not wearing pants as a prime example.

This is the second or third time I’ve heard about things like this happening. How pathetic we have become. Hell, when I was in the fourth grade we would run around the playground playing war, using sticks as machine guns and the teachers didn’t give a shite.

I'm pretty sure I had a Benjamin air rifle or 2 by that age.

If the story told is true, that is insanity.

The frick was he suspended for? If he does nothing, maybe his brother picks it up and starts waving it around. Then the parents get in trouble. They should appeal this.

I remember me and a friend chasing rabbits through a neighborhood w bb guns. Small town years ago you could do anything and the most you'd be worried about is someone recognizing you and calling mom/dad. Now you'd be on Facebook 2 mins after it happened. I'm not even old

I think that stems from the fact we have for too long have allowed them to run amok with their craziness. They have been allowed to forsake actually educating kids to running a day care center that focuses on indoctrination and now seem to want to impose their will into our homes.

Agree with the school. He was knowingly threatening his fellow students.
