I had never heard of Sam Harris and did a quick google search and this was one of the first things to pop up. If he is this intellectually dishonest or just plain stupid then I can't take anything else he says seriously.

Yeah...that’s pretty bad.

Trump was clearly the Giant Douche; Hillary was Turd Sandwich.

I got that book last week, haven’t started it yet, trying to finish the one I’m reading now before I dive into that.

There is nothing in the Christian religion that comes anywhere close to trying to mutter words and turn pancakes into Elvis. He's either a moron, which clearly he's not, or he's being intellectually dishonest. Pretty simple really.

I like Sam Harris and never heard of Jordan Peterson. I've been listening to the debate between the two for the last 45 minutes and all I hear is harris asking reasonable questions and peterson responding with long, smart sounding, but bullshite answers that don't satisfy the question and challenge the original question in some ways.

Peterson jumped into his own intellectual noose, but refused to defer his own points. He never really made any valid point, he simply argued some bullshite some simpleton could believe and think he won.

Yeah he admitted that he did horribly in that debate. They did another one after it on pretty much the same topic and I think he did much better.

Jordan Peterson or Sam Harris?

Huge fan of Sam Harris. I think he's an important voice given he comes from the left side of the aisle and yet he continually points out the obvious issues with Islam, the inability to have discussions due to the left promoting outrage and shouting people down, etc.

I don't agree with him 100% of the time, but when I do his reasoning is usually so sound that I really do end up having to double check why I hold the position I do.

I like Peterson as well. I'll be honest that I wondered what everyone saw in him after his first brush with Sam Harris where he felt the need to argue about the meaning of "truth" for about 90 minutes, but I've listened to him since and when he stays away from religion I think his message is an incredibly important one.

Both are very important voices right now and between them ought to cover the middle from both sides extremely well. THESE are the kinds of guys we ought to have disagreeing...not assholes from the fringes of both sides.

Here's a good interview with Peterson if you care to learn more about him. I'm on the opposite end where I do not know too much about about Sam Harris

I like them both. They are both super analytical and seek objective, even tempered discourse. Very hard to come by in our social media, theatrics driven society.

I am much more politically in line with Peterson but I love hearing Sam's take on any number of issues, domestic politics the least of which. Sam Harris is very interesting to listen to when in a discussion with another person but I have never been able to listen to his podcasts as his speaking style when by himself makes me want to blow my head off.

The fact he pulled out Elvis means he likely read it, comprehending it is another matter entirely.
