For starters, anyone who argues that science relies on morality loses points. That's an obvious and intentional oversimplification of his position, but there it is.

Also, Harris just discusses things I'm more interested in on his podcast. I don't dislike Peterson, I just don't find him particularly interesting.

Harris seems ok, but Peterson is fricking awesome.

They both have podcasts and they have sat down and debated each other, I don’t feel like their debates really went anywhere though. They just went off into the weeds of what is considered “true”. I didn’t really understand a lot of what they were talking about. But each of their podcasts are very good.

Peterson also has a YouTube channel that you can subscribe to and both have many interviews on YouTube.

Eta: Harris is a staunch atheist while Peterson I think is agnostic but he definitely believes in the necessity and the teachings of religion on how to live your life, especially Christianity.

Peterson speaks to the inborn human desire for metaphysical meaning. He is satisfying because he is right about the emptiness of postmodernism and the path toward happiness or eudaimonia.

However, Peterson is very quick to tell you what he "knows" and quick to dismiss that which he doesn't. He is a true believer in Carl Jung, who was a quack.

Harris, though not as satisfying, is more honest about what he does and does not "know." Harris is also a real scientist whereas Peterson will always be a soft scientist.

They are both great listens. While I dont subscribe to the religious doctrine that Petersen does I still prefer him slightly based on his delivery.

Harris seems smarter, though.

That video just shows you how stupid Hollywood is on so many topics. Hell, I found myself agreeing with Bill Maher on that one. Sam definitely owned that segment.

Well yeah, Harris is a neuroscientist by trade and Peterson is a clinical psychologist.

I’m honestly not sure. Big fan of both of them and recently interacted with Sam when he was in Dallas (just asked him a question at his Q&A). Big fan of both of them and they both get me to think.

I’m more familiar with Harris’ work than Peterson and am recently binge reading/watching his work. I currently find most of their differences to be trivial, but Sam has enough of a problem with Jordan that I haven’t seen why he does yet. Sam seems to get along with Shapiro more than Peterson, when I think Sam has far more different viewpoints with Ben. They’re civil, but Sam makes it clear he thinks that Jordan is out there.

However, I find that Jordan Peterson's podcast and the things he's done on other shows or outlets to be amazing. I've been listening to his Biblical Series, I'm a Christian, not trying to get into the debate of Atheism vs. Christianity at the moment, but I find that I understand the first few stories of the Bible in a much clearer way than I ever did before I listened to his podcast.

I hate to burst your bubble here a bit, and it may not even be a bursting since Peterson doesn’t know what he thinks yet, but Peterson has said he’ll let the public know after studying more on Jesus if he’s actually a Christian and his definitive opinion on Jesus in 3 years. He’s brushing up, and I think talking with men like Sam may be making he himself doubt whether Jesus is the Son of God.

He said that like last month, but it will be a few years before Peterson says his definitive opinion on Jesus and being a Christian. I think it will be positive, but I do think this is his main focus now on a personal perspective on what his relationship with Jesus is and who Jesus was as well as the people around him.

Yeah, these things are not equal. Psychology is much less susceptible to empiricism.

I'd recommend watching or listening to the recent Jordan Peterson/Ben Shapiro interaction on the Rubin report. I also liked listening to Peterson on the Joe Rogan podcast episode 1070.

They both have their expertise, but Peterson is the smartest man in the room 99.9% of the time

Well, so is Sam Harris. The only time I’ve seen Harris totally overmatched was when he was debating Christopher Hitchens. Ben Shapiro I find to be the smartest man in the room under the same circumstances, but he meets his equal with Harris. Jordan Peterson is exceptionally intelligent, and I’m in the process of reading his book. I’ve just listened to 30-40 of Sam Harris’ podcasts to where I have more to go off of from him, and I am in the process of listening to more Jordan Peterson. I find Sam Harris and Ben Shapiro to be intellectual equals though since I’ve listened enough of both to say so objectively.

I only have experience paying attention to Shapiro and more recently Peterson, but Harris is on my radar to follow next.

Ben Afleck proved he has no business at the same table with Sam Harris. It was embarrassing to watch.
