If it was a falling tide her blood any other evidence would've remained on the sand for at least 6 hours for the police and dogs to find.

Nobody was treating this as a homicide investigation 6 hours after it happened. Her classmates were still in bed hungover and even when they went to the airport the next day everybody assumed she would just show up late after a drunken fling.

It took a while for wheels to start moving - several days of confusion and then her parents had to fly down and work with diplomats to twist arms to even begin the process of a half-assed criminal investigation.

The beaches in that area are very popular. That's where all of the resorts and hotels are. So you literally have thousands of people, kids, etc. trapsing through the crime scene without knowing it. No chance anyone is going to find a drag trail or blood splatter a week later.

The big issue is pushing her body off into the ocean and not having it wash up somewhere or float by a boat. I'm guessing they have detailed reports of the tide and currents that night in the evidence file and can corroborate whether this was plausable or not. But it's a small island and he didn't have a car so that's the most likely scenario.

He extorted them by telling them he would reveal where her remains were in exchange for a sum of money. They paid him $25k up front for the information, $15k via wire transfer. The information he gave was, of course, false. That was in 2010, I believe, and that’s where this case arose from. As part of his plea deal in the extortion case, he agreed to finally reveal what happened.

Whether his confession is the exact truth, I guess we will never know. I believe he did kill her, though, so at least he has admitted to doing so.

It’s sad the sentence is concurrent with his sentence in Peru. He should have to serve time in US after his time is up in Peru. Basically no punishment.

I'm also curious what he did with the cinderblock, which would've been covered in evidence.

Have you been to Aruba? Not exactly a place where you would expect a state of the art, FBI CSI team to be on 24 hour call.

If I was going to lie about how I killed someone, I probably wouldn't make up something as horrific and gruesome as that. I'm thinking he finally told the truth..... and it sickens me. He's truly a psycho and there is 2 girls he's on record for killing that we know about.

The US sentence will be served after the Peru sentence,

When finished he will do 28 in Peru plus 20 here

He’s already done 10 so he has 18 more in Peru then here for another 20

He is truly a sinister and evil person. As a Birmingham resident following this case for nearly 20 years he had plenty of opportunities to confess his sins after brutally murdering not one, but 2 women. Not until he was given an easier path did he confess. Seems like the profile of a sociopath.

Idk about her but Greta sure seems to be

Greta tweet

impossible! If van der Sloot only walked up to his knees in depth, because the reef there is 4 football fields (400 yards), she would have washed to shore..the current to take a body out to see is at 400 yards..I studied this in 2005 in Aruba and every fisherman there knows this

This whole I put her in the ocean and that is the last I saw of her is bogus. This was debunked back in the summer of 2005 when she went missing. Maybe he did throw her in there, but there should have been more of a mess leading to the water if that was the case.

No current and no tide along that area she went missing. Body would have washed back up to shore.

He lying.

Maybe we can tie a cinderblock to his ankles and throw him in the ocean about an inch under his nose at low tide

This is the answer to everyone that keeps asking about a crime scene and why it wasn’t found.

Definitely possible but I still think he’s lying and he had help. He’s probably extorting the shite out of the people that helped him back then.

I also think he’s sugar coating the actual murder. It’s more likely to me that he raped her first. If some tourist turns you down and you knock her unconscious, you are more likely to just haul arse out of there. But if he’d already raped her, the only way to keep her quiet is to kill her. He’s never telling the full truth. That POS is lying about part of it at least.

This is completely false.

His 20 year sentence will be served CONCURRENT with his Peru sentence. His release date from Peru is in 2043. That means he will never serve a single day in a US prison.

This entire thing was obviously done to cut a deal and get the family a confession and closure. And that was achieved.

Still don't know why we can't let him hang himself while the cameras malfunctioned and the guards happen to have been on break, while he is still in US custody.

Yeah. Probably 80% true. But it’s all you will ever get.

He makes it sound like an I was drunk spur of the moment thing and “she hit me first”.

But he did later Murder another girl. So there is probably a bit more.

Normal dude who is a club DJ in Aruba? You take your swing get shot down and chalk it up. Go to whatever passes for Waffle House or whataburger in Aruba. frick again another/next night.

Even IF you’re crazy enough to get mad and soccer kick a seated girl in the head, you take a cinder block to her??

That mother fricker needs to be “playing basketball in PELICAN BAY!!!! SHU program (expletive)!!”
