The story is so grotesque that it does not help him in any way. It makes him look like a complete psycho killer with no remorse.
I would like to know if he showed emotion when telling the story. If not, he is not remorseful. He is still a psycho.
The only reason I can imagine that he’d lie about this is that he wants to inflict emotional harm on the family. Just imagine hearing this about your daughter…

If you look at google maps and follow the walk between the fisherman wharf and the Marriott there is a pier that goes out about 120 yards.

I’m guessing he left out the part where he raped her. I am skeptical he wouldn’t have done that before killing her.

Did they know to look there? He said they got dropped off further away from her hotel, so it might not have been somewhere they thought to comb through the sand for buried blood. Did they use dogs the next day? That I don't know.
ETA:
Also the investigation was botched from the beginning. If the same events happened in the US, he would've been arrested, tried, and convicted IMO. They would've had 1000x the manpower and strategy during the first 24/48 hour investigation.

Bull shite Joran
This is where the confession doesnt match the (lack of) evidence. Joran is confessing the equivelant of a violent blunt force trauma murder in front of Phoenix 6 in Orange Beach. Not only that but the bay area off the Aruba beach constantly has boats on mooring just off the beach. Plenty of people coming and going on the beach, joggers at sunrise,etc. And not only on the beach, but in tender boats as well as people sleeping on the moored boats.
