I think the parents were pimping her out to an elite society pedophilia ring, and one of them went a little overboard and killed her. They had to cover it up or it would expose them for being sickos who were pimping out their underage daughter.

Burke was eating pineapple, JonBenet being the female that she is decided to snatch a piece of pineapple out of his bowl. Burke wasn't having that shite so he grabbed the item nearest to him (a flashlight) and whacked her over the head with it. That for all intents and purposes rendered her brain dead.
