It is cool you mentioned Blaze. His story was a tragic, but good one.

Man, talk about some tear jerkers. Clay Pigeons, Faded Loves and Memories, Someday...that man had some serious heartache.

I believe he has said that's his favorite. Saw him do it with Jason Isbell a few years back in Huntsville. Incredible show.

HempHead,

How anyone can tell a story as rich as “Far, Far From Me” in 3 verses and a chorus is amazing. Such a talent.

Good ol' Red Bay baw.

Dropped out of school at 16 to become a musician - basically all of his family disowned them. Wonder who is laughing now with a shelf full of Grammys.

Isbell brought him on stage at the Ryman show. It was John's birthday and Jason lead the crowd in singing him happy birthday. John played a couple songs with Isbell and the band.
That was easily one of the best shows I've seen in a long time.

Hope his daddy takes him back to Muhlenberg County in Paradise if he doesn’t pull through.

And daddy won't you take me back to Muhlenberg County
Down by the Green River where Paradise lay
Well, I'm sorry my son, but you're too late in asking
Mister Peabody's coal train has hauled it away…

I was looking forward to seeing him at Jazz Fest this year. God willing, he'll beat this.

He does have more balls than a big brass monkey after all.

I hope it’s not an indicator of what’s to come but his song When I Get to Heaven is great. Terrible news.

All the snow has turned to water
Christmas days have come and gone
Broken toys and faded colors
Are all that's left to linger on
I hate graveyards and old pawn shops
For they always bring me tears
I can't forgive the way they rob me
Of my childhood souvenirs

Memories they can't be boughten
They can't be won at carnivals for free
Well it took me years
To get those souvenirs
And I don't know how they slipped away from me

Broken hearts and dirty windows
Make life difficult to see
That's why last night and this mornin'
Always look the same to me

I hate reading old love letters
For they always bring me tears
I can't forgive the way they rob me
Of my sweetheart's souvenirs

Memories they can't be boughten
They can't be won at carnivals for free
Well it took me years
To get those souvenirs
And I don't know how they slipped away from me

And eased his mind in the hours that he chose,
While the kids ran around wearin' other peoples' clothes

He has been circling the drain for a while and this virus does not discriminate. He will be missed, not much of a chance of surviving.
Tell Townes i said hi I always enjoyed our time you are in good company. Bring a bottle!
