Dave Ramsey would yell at and berate the nearly 10 million who have lose jobs recently for not selling everything they own right now. frick that guy. He’s unrealistic in some situations but he thinks he knows it all. His advice is great for a young college student who doesn’t have a life built up yet but for anyone else with a family, much of his advice is unrealistic. I’m not selling the suv and sticking my kids in a vehicle that’s less safe. I’m not selling sentimental antiques passed down to me from dead grandparents and I’m not selling my fricking house unless I’m faced with foreclosure.

Let’s say this lasts until June. How many businesses, small and giant - (1) have enough income to continue to exist, (2) have enough in cash to hire their former employees and contract with vendors and third-parties as they used to, (3) can survive in a market with severely reduced spending (people are going to be hesitant to spend long after this)?

That’s insane. What incentive is there to work an entry level job if you can make far more than that while staying at home?

Can’t we practice social distancing and use common sense and wash our hands and Disinfect shared spaces after hours without shutting down the economy?
Can’t we ask all elderly and high risk people to stay at home rather than the entire country?
Can’t we let citizens and the market decide how to handle this without overly burdensome government regulation?
I’ll trust the market and society adapting over government involvement 99% of the time because throughout human history direct government involvement almost never ends well.
It’s worth a discussion but anytime you try to discuss it you’re only met with bleating sheep that drown you out.
