While that is high, I don't believe the historic run on unemployment is because of the number. The government shut down a very large portion of the economy... it's only going to get worse until they open this damn thing up.

To have money saved? I agree though. I should have put 25k in the market 2 weeks ago when shite was really cheap

Classic OT
Let’s blame working people for the government’s actions

It's more of dont live outside your means. They dont teach financial responsibilities in school. You have to learn them yourself.

OT: get a job you lazy poors!
Person works three jobs to scrape by
OT: why don’t you have three months of expenses socked away for a rainy day, stupid poors!

Thanks, Dave Ramsey. I’m sure those are comforting words for the 10 million service industry workers, small business owners, etc.

A person working 3 jobs is saving money because a person working 3 jobs has no time to spend money.
Your straw man is, in fact, a straw man.
ETA
Also, I believe the OT wants that person working 3 jobs to be able to work, which is why we are pushing so hard to open the economy back up

Is this really shocking or surprising? Why the buzz? We've shut the country down.
Good Gawd, listening to Fox Business, they are in such a panic!

Not many businesses can exist on three months of no income. Even if these horrible working people had saved a bunch, it doesn’t really matter if there aren’t enough jobs to come back to. The longer this lasts the more the economic damage is permanent.
