WWE legend Jim Ross' wife Jan Ross has died at 55 years old ... after sustaining a catastrophic brain injury in an accident.

Ross -- who married Jim in 1993 -- was riding her Vespa home from the gym Monday night in Oklahoma when she was struck from behind by a vehicle. She was not wearing a helmet. Ross sustained a serious brain injury and multiple skull fractures.

Riding a Vespa without a helmet doesn't sound like a good idea

Terrible. RIP.

Out of respect I won't post famous Jim Ross lines in reference to this.

this is really sad. She was truly a great woman and you can see how important she and JR were to many people in the business.

This is a huge blow

Riding a motorcycle in this age of distracted driver is very dangerous...without a helmet is almost suicidal.

Prayers to the family. Put your phone down when driving.

Sad news. There are so many shitty drivers out there, even going with a helmet on any type of 2 wheel is a risky proposition.
