I remember the JFK funeral procession. Then years later the RFK assassination and the live aftermath on TV. Rosie Greer who played for the Rams tackled the assassin.

I was searching through my grandma’s mantle. In the front room that no one ever went into. I found her original newspaper clippings from the day after. I was around seven. Didn’t understand the brevity of what I was holding. My aunt came in and shooed me away, but I remember what I read
Pretty sure there still in there

I was in the first grade and they announced it over the speaker. A girl in class started crying and the teacher asked her if she knew him, I thought that was an odd thing to ask. They let school out early and I went home and proceeded to do kid things.

I had just turned 4. I remember my parents being upset while watching the TV coverage and I was wondering why they would be so upset about something that didn't directly involve a member of our family.

May father was in the eighth grade. He remembers the principal coming into the class and asking the the teacher out into the hall. A minute or two later she comes back in, crying a little, and told the class what had happened. My father said they let school out a couple of hours early and sent everyone home. he and my grandparents watched the funeral at his uncle's house.

It was five years before I was born, but my dad was in college at Southeastern. Heard the news while working in the library. Immediately went home to married student housing where my mom was and they sat around with friends watching the news and wondering what was coming next. Lee Harvey Oswald getting lit up was not on any of their bingo cards.

It was announced over the school intercom and we left my 11th grade Spanish class to go to another room with a television. As I left the Spanish classroom and at the foot of the stairs, I encountered a classmate whose father was a local wise guy who owned an Italian restaurant which was something of a hangout. He looked at me all excited and in contrast to all the sadness and melancholy around us, happily exclaimed: “We finally got the bastard.” I’ve never forgotten that moment.

I was five years old.
I remember riding in the car with my aunt and she was explaining to me what happened.
There is another current threat on here about the first major news story you heard covered.
This was my answer.

I was 6 years from being born.
My dad however, was Lee Harvey's drill instructor at Paris Island. Said when he got there he couldn't shot a lick by the time he left, he was very skilled. My dad says he could easily made the shot but thinks others were involved.

Third grade in parochial school. The nuns lined us up unexpectedly and marched us into church where the priest told the whole school that “the president has been shot”. We said a rosary for him and didn’t find out he had died until we were home and our parents told us.
