I absolutely believe it to be the reason for the change in their policy.
I think it's a reason. Maybe not the reason. There's a lot of bullshite that goes on with their open-seating policy. I'm glad to see it going away.

Emotional Support Dogs are the dumbest thing. Any vet can write the paperwork.
"Emotional support" animals haven't been allowed on flights since 2021.
Also not designated by veterinarian since it is the human being with the emotional problems

I'll bet they culled a few photos to find those.

Really need to make Auburn stick to charter flights.

They should start charging a fee for wheelchair assistance
Would definitely end the problem.

old folks or sick or disabled
The majority of the wheelchair brigade leaving MSY don’t seem to fit any of these, unless being morbidly obese is a disability. I’ve been bearing this drum for years, the Mile High healing is the main driver for SWA to move to assigned seats. When 12-15 fatties load up first, prime seats and overhead bins fill up quick. At least they aren’t allowed to sit on the Exit Row.

All the people in those pictures look really old.
A lot of old folks and sick or disabled people are capable of standing up and walking a few feet, but that doesn't mean they can walk across an airport or stand for a long time.
I feel like most people would be forgiving towards someone who is visibly old and frail. We were planning on possibly flying last summer with my Grandmother who is almost 90 and would’ve needed a wheelchair to make it all the way across the airport (she can still walk short distances).

Reasons:
1. You are assured overhead space for carry on items
2. You get to claim the shared armrests

Not how that works

IMO, vets should have front row parking anyway.
Even when you abuse the system and have plates on your kids cars for the free registration?

I’ve seen this many times. Airport wheelchairs are out of control. At least three per flight now.

The people in those pictures don’t look like the ones I see abusing this.

Almost everything is a lie to avoid being labeled as…something.

Not nearly as much as all the disabled at the Walmart stores. So many able bodied people getting out of them handicap parking spots.

Reminds me of all these 'disabled veterans' i see parking in handicap spots and a dude that looks like prime arnold Schwarzenegger gets out.
Lifted F-250, proudly displaying a 100% DV tag. Juiced guy gets out wearing a Gymshark shirt. Yeah it’s a common trend.
