Ahhhhh. I was about to say, but yeah we were both there when all of the priest allegations started to spread around the country. Talk about a confusing time.

Should be non surprise to anyone. Any true believing catholic that isn't absolutely revolting at this point needs to turn in their card

I am pissed and wish it wouldn't have happened? YES
Am I going to quit going to church over it? NO

All people sin, some worse than others. I think the abuser should be jailed - but I'm not turning my back on the Church because of a sick priest.

What needs to happen is a massive purge of the leadership pre-Dallas Charter. I get that there are some honest and innocent priests that didnt commit these acts but for the good of the church they need to be ushered to retirement.

no. they need to expose and prosecute them, not continue to sweep things under the rug. as someone who grew up going to a catholic school there is no way in i would raise my children to be catholic. Cover ups are promoted at the highest level. i have to give credit to them for keeping this huge money racket going this long though.

If this were the case then priests would simply be having unauthorized sex with other adults. Pedophilia is a different animal.

They are. It’s predicted 50% are having sex with other adults, both men and women and 6% are having sex with minors.

No, the article is not just about a janitor unless you conveniently omit the priest who walked in on the two of them and then took it from there.
Not to mention some other adult who saw something and whose only reaction was something like, “ah, jeez again?”
You don’t do Jesuit any favors by acting like they’re blameless. They’ll have to own this.

Wonder how Jesuit will handle damage control on this one...

The fact that it happened and was covered up is terrible.

Makes you wonder how many other things were swept under the rug, or handled in this fashion...

This thread is going down faster than a Jesuit janitor...

I wonder why...?

Obviously there is a reason this has happened so much. Do phediphiles become priest because they will have access to kids or is it because priest can't have sex and at some point anything that is vulnerable becomes sexually arousing?

I am being serious, but you know how there is gay and prison gay? Are priest prison gay? They only do it because it's what they have access to?

If they are so inclined priests seem to have no problem finding single and married women to have sex with. I know of a priest that has had an affair with the same woman for over 20 years.
