If they wanted Blossom to take over as host in the first place, why did they go through the trouble of naming this guy as host and then cancelling the shite out of him?

I don’t know what is going on in this thread, but the biggest issue is that Richards appears to have use his position to insert himself into the mix, under false pretenses of COVID when Ken Jennings had a scheduling conflict that the Jeopardy had already scheduled to accommodate. Then while he was supposed to be helping ensure the guest hosts were as successful as possible, he was actually vying for the permanent host spot. And finally, he selected the video segments to show to the focus groups, leaving other producers out of the process altogether.
So combined with some termination lawsuits (including in his short time at Jeopardy), I think the clear and unnecessary conflict of interest in the selection process, is enough to justify having someone else as the permanent host. And it’s not like people were clamoring for some random guy name Mike Richards anyways. These comments are just the cherry on top, but I think the other issues were more relevant.

Bill Simmons (founder of the Ringer) has said and written far more offensive and anti-female things through the course of his career than what Mike Richards said in these instances.
