I'm definitely watching this. I live in JD Parish and have all my life. It's incredible what goes on.... Back in the 80's and 90's Welsh and Jennings had more drugs flowing through it than you could imagine. It's basically halfway between Houston and NOLA on I-10.

The writer of True Detective, Nic Pizzolatto, is from Lake Charles, and his father grew up and went to high school in Jennings.
From Wikipedia:

After some speculation that the first season of the HBO series True Detective is based on the Jeff Davis 8 case, creator Nic Pizzolatto claimed in a DVD Commentary that he had not heard of the specific case until after the episodes had aired.

back around 2016 when i was thinking of buying an HD camera and making short docs i thought about doing something on this
but
then i thought about what may happen to me (being in Jeff Davis Parish) so i scrapped the whole "short documentary" idea
that area is shady

You never been to the Lake Arthur yacht club? High class entertainment. Also you haven't lived until you spend a weekend partying at Myers landing.

I knew some of the people listed in the book. It's strange hearing about this, my wife read the book. We had moved away when it happened.

2 part series that’s weak. Showtime just finished a 6 part documentary on it. IMO three people had a part to play in these murders. Terry Guillory is the main culprit along with Danny ( cant remember last name). And Frankie Richard might have killed a couple, but I believe he was instructed by the police to get him out of trouble

word around Jennings is it was Danny Barry(worked at the jail, had the sex dungeon where he brought some of the girls for 3somes with he and his wife in an old trailer, died after the last girl was found about a yr later, murders stopped)who was killing women and guillory knew about it....they ran drugs and prostitution.....sheriff Edward knew about the Boudreaux inn and never shut them down where all the jd8 worked at at one time or another....and yeah CB swung by a few times according to at least 1 of the jd8 girls...crazy how this shite never got solved
