Jennings 8 on ID-Murder In The Bayou

Discovery ID is airing a two part special on the Jennings 8 this coming Saturday and Sunday(June 15th and 16th). Its the story of 8 hookers murdered in Jennings between 2005 and 2009. All were involved in the local drug scene.
Anyone read the book, Murder In The Bayou? Or have any direct knowledge? From what I have heard the Jefferson Parrish Sheriffs Dept has some bad dudes, but maybe this is just rumors.

I am sure some care, but it's difficult for me to care about hookers and dopers/dealers getting killed.

The story is more about the Jefferson Parrish Sheriffs Dept killing people versus hookers/druggies. As a human being in this country, that type of police corruption should matter to you.

Jefferson Parish is near New Orleans.
This story is about Jeff (Jefferson) Davis Parish.

I am actually glad you posted this. I actually have an interest in reading the book, but forgot about it.

Those ladies no matter their chosen lifestyle didn't deserve to die or be treated the way they were treated after the fact. I'm not convinced they're all related. I believe it's possible for a few to be but the others have different circumstances and findings. I think an uneducated investigative team (on initial investigation) and some bad laced drugs lead to it along with acquaintances not wanting to be caught up in it made it all seem connected. Add into all of that the media trying to make money like this youtuber or the book. If those folks really cared about solving it why would they make money off of it?

Is season one of True Crime loosely based off of this story?

Before I click on the thread I was thinking this was those black kids arrested for that fight at school back in like 06. The Jena 6. Louisiana really needs to diversify it's names when it comes to this sort of thing

We just call all of them the Jenaings 14 now

That's right! True Detective. And I thought I read that somewhere, but I didn't know it was referred to as Jennings 8 (just remember it saying killings that took place between 2006 - 2015 or something along those lines).

I don't know who did it, but I'm guessing it has something to do with Duson. Always start the search in Duson.

I dont see anything in the link proving any law enforcement was guilty of these crimes. Being stupid, inept and shitty at your job doesnt make someone guilty of murder.

Something I have always been curious about.
Outside of big city police departments, where there are more crimes which keep detectives busy giving them experience. How much experience does the average police department have when it comes to investigating crimes?
How many crimes are the city of Jennings police department having to solve or the Jefferson Davis sheriff's department? In other words, when it comes to something like this, how much trust can you put into their workings?

The writer of True Detective, Nic Pizzolatto, is from Lake Charles, and his father grew up and went to high school in Jennings.

SloFlo knows who did it.
He’s talked about it in other threads.

The deputy that allegedly did it passed away. That's why the murders stopped.
The book is great and I made a thread on it once. I will find it.

I'm going to get that after I finish my current book. Thanks for the recommendation.
