hit a little bump on the road that sets it off

If you’ve ever experienced it you know just what types of bumps set if off. I know someone with a F250 and I’ve felt his rig nearly go into DW. I’ve told him he needs to sell it or trade it in the next year or so before it starts to DW on him.

Here’s a good YouTube video that shows what it looks like. It’s terrifying at 65mph on the freeway.

Being in a Jeep going 65mph is terrifying anyway. Those things never felt stable to me at high speed.

It’s real. Took me a minute to sort it out. Mines an 2003 though.

It won't be an issue on a new jeep. What most people don't understand is the death wobble can actually caused by any component that places your jeep out of "alignment" but this isn't the normal alignment you think of like the car steering straight on the road. the vehicle must be aligned (in layman's terms) top/bottom/front/back/left/right and so on. The death wobble is so common on jeeps people so many people customize their jeeps with bigger tires and a lifted suspension etc. each one of these modifications changes the "alignment" of the vehicle and if the work is not done properly or parts are worn/broken/bent you can experience the wobble.

I'm on my third lifted jeep. A 97, 13, 21 and I've never had death wobble a single time

It really isn't that bad. Maybe the first time is scary, but it's pretty easy to get used to.

My old LJ would do it frequently before I swapped the control arms. If you have a TJ (non-rubi) or YJ, you might as well get an SYE too if you're having a shop change the arms

I’m looking at the extreme recon package which adds in a lift and 35 inch tires all from the factory.

You will be fine. The extreme recon has no known huge death wobble issues and that package is only on the newer JLs, that are even better than the JKs of last gen.

If it is used and been abused off road, it could happen. New it is not going to happen.

I bought a jeep Rubicon that was stock, not lifted or anything but the dealership put big mud terrain tires on it before they sold it to me

Why did you now just put factory tires/wheels on and not take the $12K loss?

This seems overly dramatic

Edit - If you like the tires you could have replaced the whole suspension and steering for under $5000 installed with something from Metalcloak or Rockcrawler. Those would have came with adjustable control arms and 1 ton steering components.

Jeep death wobble

If you don't get a cheap lift, it's pretty unlikely (not impossible) to be a problem on a Jeep without major suspension wear.

It is a big issue on the F-250 though, especially as they age.

I've had 3 Jeeps, 2 of them lifted and never had the death wobble... looks fun though.

The 2 door Wrangler with a six speed is a fun little rig.

Agree. Way easier solutions than giving up and selling a basically brand new car after drive off depreciation.

Seems like a higher caster setting would solve it?
