Depends on the industry, but a safe answer is no.
Unless you’re a banker or a lawyer, nobody cares if you’re in a nice pair of jeans with a sport coat. That’s overdressed in tech.

Depends on multiple things
What jeans, are you fat, do your clothes fit, etc etc
For example
Jeans
What the average overweight man wears for business casual
The top person looks far more “professional”

Guess I look like a dickhead a lot. I wear it all with boots, though, if that helps brighten your opinion.
Just explain to me why you do it. Whar message are you trying to convey with jeans + sportscoat?

I pretty much exclusively wear sports coat, boots, and khaki colored jeans
In consulting for all range of clients. If I’m going to a bank it will usually be a suit

I used to wear navy or black cotton slacks for business casual, which looked fine and were much more comfortable than jeans.

You can usually get away with khakis with a sports coat but not blue jeans lol

Usually no.
Business casual historically has been slacks with a collared shirt in my experience.
For men (insert sexual discrimination) Women can wear flip flops and collarless shirts and its OK.

Business casual is slacks and a button-down dress shirt. The shirt could be a short sleeve polo shirt if you’re a teenager.

Jeans and your nicest PFG should be fine for business casual

I like the way jeans feel, and I’m over 40 but never learned how to tie a tie. So sometimes to look “nicer”, I wear a sport coat to help compensate for no tie.

No. Jeans are not. The colored five pocket pants, yes, but regular ol Levi’s. No.
Posted on 2/18/25 at 12:28 pm to 610man
Probably not, unless you're the business owner.

No, jeans are not business casual. Business casual is a dress shirt and slacks.

Standard conference setting attire is slacks, dress shirt, and a sport coat at the minimum.
