So my classroom will fit 12 kids. I will spend the whole time playing mask and social distancing police. Joy.

For the teachers, this will be the fastest Summer ever!

How about you just go back to everything being normal, and if Karen doesn't like it, she can keep her kids home and home school them or allow for virtual learning.

I wonder if the media fear mongering is going to start targeting Louisiana.
I’d rather bad Covid with possible death than to homeschool a 10 year old and a 7 year old for another 2 months. Schools better open up in fall or I’m gonna start rioting.

1 person in Louisiana(along with many other states) under 18 died of covid and that was a 20 week preterm baby that didn't even have covid(mom covid+).
Can't wait for the day this idiot is no longer in office.

quote:What sense does that make? How is it safer to be around each other 2 days a week but not 5? Where do these kids go the other weekdays while their parents go to work? They’re not gonna be 6 feet apart on the way to and during lunch.
I'm guessing they are going to stagger kids and have half capacity on every other day.

quote:Exactly. If you have 2 kids who go to school on different days, you still have to pay someone 5 days a week for childcare.
You cant do virtual or hybrid bc who the hell is going to watch your kids

We've been told we will have one way hallways, students will get meals in their classrooms, and students will not be switching classes. So I've gone from only having to teach 2 subjects to now teaching 4 which is going to suck, plus I will have the same group all day long.

One of the recommendations the CDC put out was to keep all windows and doors open in the school building to allow for airflow.
That, along with the recommendation regarding 6 foot spacing of desks in the classroom, makes me wonder if anyone at the CDC has visited a modern school building in say the past 30 years or so?
They aren't putting a lot of windows that open in schools anymore (hell, a lot of campuses don't have many windows at all), most campuses have security protocols that don't allow for open doors be it for classrooms or to the outside, and classrooms tend to be fairly small in comparison to the schools of olden days.

I’m guessing no recess, no school sports, no p.e. or music class, or regular bathroom breaks.

They're going to do this all wrong. Schools should be one of THE first places we completely allow life to go on.

JBE all but said that Fall high school sports are cancelled.

I have never met a more selfish generation than boomers
They are completely fricking the lives of young kids either out of their own fear or politics and they don’t care at all

Since march 1st more people under 18 have died from flu than covid 19 accordingto CDC data. Multiple studies show kids are not silent carriers. Under covid logic we should have regular schooling until there is no flu.

School every other day won’t work for most especially parents that work
Posted on 6/18/20 at 5:53 pm to musick
This is frickin red tape for kids who will be all around each other anyways. It will just make it nightmares on schools and accomplish nothing. Quit frickin worrying about this shite and let’s get on with life like normal.

I'll tell you another huge issue was this, and was confirmed today. If a school/teacher/principal doesn't follow ALL OF THE CDC GUIDELINES (which are laughable, esp the younger you get with the age of the students), the school and district is then held liable if a COVID-19 infection is traced back to the school.
THAT is why they haven't made a decision yet, they have been trying to figure out the legal aspects of that, but as of today, the liability is going to push districts to likely offer traditional classes, with a waiver signed at the beginning of year of those attending in person, with the virtual/online offering available to those who dont want to send the kids to school. This obviously can change if they adjust some laws somehow or issue some kind of emergency orders to them, not sure that aspect of it.
They are doing this already in some districts, it's going to be a nightmare year starting in the fall, especially for us IT staff.
