Like I said earlier, states shutting down again will force fed unemployment to extend
That means continued protests & continued chaos
When that $600 a week ends there will be a major crash in the Louisiana economy. Foreclosures, evictions, and hungry people out on the street who want to earn a decent living. Not just a bunch of protesters. I will probably be one of them because out of 85 job applications I have gotten 3 call backs and no offers. We need the shutdowns to end and the hysteria to stop.

I'm in a southern Louisiana parish ... so our ELECTED sheriff can tell the mayor to f off if he chooses???
Absolutely. In this state, there isn't an elected official much more powerful than the sheriff of a parish.
Well, a mayor is in charge of a city, and most cities have their own police dept. So, it would be up to city police to enforce a city order, within city limits.
If a parish passes a mask order, the sheriff like all police, have discretion, but their charge is to enforce the laws of the parish, which include parish executive orders.

An executive order is not a law. It is someone dictating to the people.

You’re right but be ready to be downvoted into oblivion.
FWIW I think most people are willing to have common sense about the masks, even those that are crying about it on here. I was deadset against them a couple weeks ago and said as much on here. If it’s wear the mask or go back into shut down again I’d rather suck it up for a couple months and wear the damn thing and still live as normal of a life as possible.
Governments across the board in the US have fricked This up horribly from the onset. Not just republican led or democrat led. All are to thank for why we are where we are now.

You’re right ya know. They still refuse to believe this is happening and they dgaf about facts or science. History will not be kind to Donald Trump. I know darn well he has advisors telling him this daily. The man is stubborn, narcissistic, and acts like a 12 year old. I voted for this fool because I thought he would be good for the economy. He has been, but he and other state officials are killing this country right now to make a political statement. I’ve voted Republican my whole life because I work in the oil and gas industry, which normally benefits my family and I. If you want to argue political views, that’s fine! A virus killing people and putting others out of jobs is NOT political! We are really the only global power that is being completely overwhelmed by this virus. It’s pathetic and the US should be embarrassed right now. Wearing and damn mask and taking precautions is common sense, and it’s easy to do. It should have nothing to do with our rights or which party you vote for. It’s just the right thing to do for the better of this country!
I love people who scream, "It shouldn't be political!", then go right into politics.
You do realize that you just made it all political, right?

The ancillary damage is fixing to start outweighing the obvious damage from COVID-19 if it hasn’t already people. Residence in nursing homes are dying from depression rapidly increasing mental issues and weight loss from not being able to see their loved ones. Who knows what kind of damage is being done from a psychological depressionDrug and alcohol use as a result of COVID-19 or should I say the politicians destroying our economy

Him calling a last minute presser on a Saturday, I'm afraid it's going to be more than a mask mandate.
He may well put us back to Phase 1, or strongly threaten to do so.
And if we go back to Phase 1, schools will absolutely be all virtual, and travel ball is in a lot of trouble.

You won't have to once you're put back in quarantine.

More draconian restrictions. Making us wear a mask in this 110 degrees heat should be considered more dangerous than the 99% survival rate Covid virus. Why haven’t we heard any of these politicians come out to say we need to build Herd Immunity?
You’re not going to be required to wear it outside in the heat jackass.

I mean is being overwhelmed just tied in to cases/effects? If so than I agree. But look at all the shite being canceled/changed as a result. I know a lot of it is hysteria but why is that hysteria about it there? Is there any other country experiencing this “second spike” or whatever the frick it is and reaction that we are?

I can attest to this first part. I can also attest to the second part -- been drinking a little more than normal and am considering going to the walk in clinic and just telling them that I'm seeking crazy pills.
