I mean, there is plenty of crime in Japan. It's just a whole lot more secretive. When someone disappears, they stay disappeared.
The Yakuza has 102,000 members for crying out loud.

No, I'm just saying that the crime exists in their ghettos and poor areas just like they do in every corner of the world.
Then why did they only have 1 murder last year? If the problem is simply socioeconomic standing, wouldn't they have more?

Not to rain on anyone's agenda, but it's fairly well known that Japan intentionally misrepresents crime statistics, specifically murder.

No doubt their crime stats are tiny compared to the rest of the developed world, but let's pump the brakes a bit.

TOKYO — Photos of the teenager's corpse show a deep cut on his right arm, horrific bruising on his neck and chest. His face is swollen and covered with cuts. A silhouette of violence runs from the corner of his left eye over the cheekbone to his jaw, and his legs are pocked with small burns the size of a lighted cigarette.
But police in Japan's Aichi prefecture saw something else when they looked at the body of Takashi Saito, a 17-year-old sumo wrestler who arrived at a hospital in June. The cause of death was "heart disease," police declared.
quote:
Police discourage autopsies that might reveal a higher homicide rate in their jurisdiction, and pressure doctors to attribute unnatural deaths to health reasons, usually heart failure, the group alleges. Odds are, it says, that people are getting away with murder in Japan, a country that officially claims one of the lowest per capita homicide rates in the world.

It would probably be cheaper than paying for all the thugs we house.

One shooting last year. Hard for people to get shot when almost no one owns guns.

They don't allow Mussies to refugee

Okay. Why is their crime rate much lower as a whole then?
If it has zero to do with being homogeneous, wouldn't their crime rates be equal to the rest of the world?
I'll give you a hint...it's because for their homogeneous CULTURE.
not their race. Not their wealth. But their overall CULTURE

They allow almost no immigration. Absolutely no Muslims, ever.
Not at all true, and they do have plenty of tourists.
The real reason why is that the mere possession of firearms or ammunition are treated as very serious crimes that will get you several years of prison time.
For example, if you fly into Tokyo and like to keep a 22 round in your pocket just to fidget with, your first stop in Japan will be with the police and it won't be fun.

Culture. Strict penalties for crimes committed. It probably helps that it's common to have multiple generations of family under one roof too.
I don't know for certain but I would expect the crime rate expressed as standard deviations away from the mean (vs socioeconomic status) to be fairly consistent in most developed countries.

Now you got it!!! What I said in my very first post.
A fricking homogeneous culture.
Except you, the racist, instantly decided that homogeneous only refers to race. Amazing how only one of us sees race.. And it's the one calling everyone a racist. Odd

How do I move there?

You're moving the goal posts and calling populations culturally homogenous only when they succeed. Its putting the cart before the horse.
A low crime neighborhood with 4 Nigerian families, 2 from Argentina, 2 east Asian, and 20 white american families isn't "culturally homogenous". It's just successful.

When have I done this?
Hint. I haven't.

You're right. They aren't culturally homogenous. I've never made the argument you are presenting here.
The COUNTRY of Japan is culturally homogeneous. It's a bit different than a neighborhood.
Smdh. Just admit you are backed into a corner. You came in here yelling racist and have been put in your place. You are making shite up at this point.

quote:That's a little too pat. With the Japanese, still waters run deep. They are largely peaceful...until they go completely haywire and do shite like the rape of nanking. Also, the complete lack of and criminalization of guns matters a lot to their level of violence. Even the yakuza don't use guns.
Japan is just a peaceful place. There is a lack of fear and anxiety about violence. And it's amazing the effect that has on the quality of life, just the knowledge that nobody is likely to steal your shite or shoot you for walking down the wrong street.

I have at least 30 friends who are, or have been stationed in Japan, and I'm headed there next. I'll probably be stationed there for several years. I know for a fact that Japan does not allow passports from the middle east into their country.

No, just a big beautiful wall. With a tiny little mouse sized door.

It's actually wrong. In Japan, murder-suicides are counted as two suicides (one intentional, one not intentional). Hard to get accurate homicide statistics with people commiting unintentional suicide by getting shot to death by someone else.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website, residents of Turkey and Israel don't even need a visa. LINK
And here is the page for visa applicants. Notice that residents of Qatar have a link for directions if they wish to get a multiple entry visa.

Yeah, a short term stay is not immigration.
JapanToday
28 immigrants in 2016. 0.2 percent of applicants.
