The Japanese town I lived in had 20k people. Some guy had killed his wife in the late 1940s. It's still a big deal.

Japan is just a peaceful place. There is a lack of fear and anxiety about violence. And it's amazing the effect that has on the quality of life, just the knowledge that nobody is likely to steal your shite or shoot you for walking down the wrong street.

They must have a lot of good guys with guns keeping everyone in line
