Thanks for helping me out militarly. We are pussies for letting that go. We spend a whole bunch of money on our military that we never use. We have become a soft target for any group to kill and maim Americans without recourse. In the end of this three people maybe four one dead killed 15 people and terrified numerous. I like the Roman example. Kill 1000 for every 1.
No one likes a bully. Don't bring s*** and we won't start s***. Unfortunately that won't happen these days. It will take a huge mass casualty event for Americans to appreciate what they have and what they want to keep.

I was on Bourbon at about 8:30 pm - 9:30 pm last night. Tons of.police presence. There weren't too many women, so we went to a party elsewhere.

This morning heard some official describing how the Superdome is much easier to secure with all the concrete barriers, control mechanisms and such. FWIW.

He was a desk bitch in the military nowhere near importance. Seems like he got too deep in religion, caused life problems likely with current world events, and he went out doing this nonsense. He was divorced, failed businesses, and in debt.
I’m sure more will come out about his military service in time, including any behavioral issues.
His personal issues (divorced, failed businesses, increased financial strains/child support, debt and behavior changes) are many of the red flags that are covered in 101-level training for extremism risk. The issue of course is that they have to be both seen and reported to chain of command. He may not have exhibited these signs in the military. Also, these are risk indicators, but obviously do not necessarily mean someone is a terrorist threat.
I have no idea why he left the service or how (voluntarily or not). I’m sure we will learn more from those who knew him.

To be fair, it's good advice to never speak to law enforcement without a lawyer.
Yeah, that is great advice to people who have been hanging around with a terrorist for the last few years. Dumbass.

On any given day you can drive through champions square and no one will think twice.
For gameday they put up some metal barricades and folding tables for security.
Illusion of safety.

You’ve never been truly safe in a crowd in your life. It has all been an illusion

Bet you’ll see more than that very soon. The super dome will be exceedingly more safe than any random spot of a parade route.

We need more sidewalk bollards and then crowd safety will be achieved.

We know from Snowden that all internet traffic, texts, phone calls etc are monitored through the NSA canibal system. Including the post btw.
We have all agreed to this, implicitly and apparently as they renewed the pariot act which includes this warrantless surveillance and searches etc. Some good people on both sides objected but not enough.
We are being told that they need to do this to stop exactly this type of sleeper cell attack. Yet this mfer posted an online manifesto about joining IsIs and preparing to attack and kill Americans that wasn’t caught by the Cannibal system or anyone at NSA, CIA or FBI.
Really ……
That’s the failure I want to understand. Hell I would think we would be tracking anyone who buys a fricking ISIS flag.
I imagine that you reach a point where the government is drowning in data. I realize the whole “known to the FBI” thing has become a meme at this point, but I’m just trying to be pragmatic about it.
I would bet that there are a heaping shitload of people who post questionable or even crazy shite on social media, forums, and whatnot. Let’s say every one of those people make it onto a watch list. Then what? There’s no way the government has the resources to actively monitor (much less physically investigate) every single internet nut job in America.
I would agree that something like buying an ISIS flag should presumably set off the alarm bells but I also kind of assumed the flag would have been homemade for that reason?
It does call into question the utility of all of that surveillance in the first place, though, which I think was your point.

Unless someone runs through with a pipe bomb, or a dirty bomb, or cuts loose with an automatic weapon
There are acceptable risks that we deal with daily. Driving, for example

Yeah. It makes sense that. The theory that his bombs didn’t go off at midnight so he got in his truck a few hours later to run bourbon st.

From my understanding he was an E6 and did two contracts on active with one deployment. Most of the time he was a nobody but there have been reports of honorable discharge with possibility of a few work place issues at the end of his active time, possibly due to his religion. He then applied for the reserves and was denied - again none of this is confirmed.

We’re not a police state, we are a free country. Freedom unfortunately has consequences. Doesn’t mean we should let the government further invade our lives.
