It doesn’t matter what ethnicity he is. He’s an evil POS I hope he’s burning in hell right now. And whoever was accomplices with him needs the death penalty swiftly.
I agree with your sentiment, but it does matter. There are assholes in this thread that want to compare this to a white person shooting up a grocery store. The time to be PC is fricking over.

The frick he does some of yall with the wish casting
IF (big IF) this real estate video is the same guy, then he is likely of at least partially African American ancestry:
Not wishcasting, just analyzing what is available. Looking at the photograph, I would say he is of at least mixed-race and not mostly/all Arab. Jabbar is primarily an Arabic name, but one that has been adopted by some African Americans.
(ETA: I edited to change "definitely" to "likely" in the first paragraph. I can see, potentially, an Arab father and a very rural White, southern mother to account for manner of speech, although I still think he has some African American ancestry as well.)

He doesn’t have black folk hair.

He clearly has no foreign accent and a light southern twang. This doesn’t say much, but he’s clearly not a recent migrant who just got asylum, as one poster said.

He was confirmed to be born in the US.
However, it’s likely he has north African or Arab parents/close relatives.

Look again. The footage specifically followed the truck the entire time it was in the frame. It’s highly suspicious.
Your intelligence level is highly suspicious.

He was born in Beaumont

Again, we're going with the reporting that the attacker was born and raised in Beaumont. Could it be same name, different guy? Certainly. But best information is that this is a native Texas, potentially of Arab/Muslim ancestry, but only recently radicalized.
Until further information is developed, we go with that as unconfirmed assumption.

So what was his last name before converting to Islam and when was the change?

I think we're going with this as his birth name until facts are further developed.

BNO News Live @BNODesk Statement from FBI Houston on New Orleans investigation: FBI Houston and the Harris County Sheriff’s Office are currently conducting law enforcement activity near the intersection of Hugh Road and Crescent Peak Drive in north Houston. We have secured a perimeter in that area and are asking people to avoid the area. FBI Houston personnel and specialized teams will be on-site for several hours. This activity is related to this morning’s New Orleans attack, but due to the ongoing nature of the investigation, no further information can be provided.

If you watched the video of him talking it’s pretty obvious he has lived here for a long time
Unless there’s snack bars out there with SE TX accents
