Rouses conspired to keep Izzo’s out of shopping center developments—specifically Juban Crossing—where Rouses was an anchor tenant. The suit claims Rouses’ executives told leasing agents for Juban Crossing in phone calls that Izzo’s “sold ‘substandard’ products and was ‘litigious’” —allegedly, an act of wire fraud—in an effort to keep Izzo’s out of the Denham Springs retail development.

So they were correct?

they sell rotten food and don’t seem to give a shite about it and apparently

This is the biggest thing that sticks in my craw. Mistakes happen. "Mistakes" that seem to keep happening becomes a very concerning pattern. Personally, I would clean house on all upper management at the problem stores and try for a better class of leaders. This is ultimately where the blame falls. They are the ones that sees this shite day in and day out and don't do shite about it.

Yep. Rouse's is a maddeningly disappointing step down from LeBlanc's. Can't wait to see what they've done to the Matherne's whenever they finally open that one up

I do all my shopping at Zuppardo's.
I don't see how they last another 5 years. Their customer base is almost dead, and they don't even bother changing lightbulbs and shite. If they don't pull a Dorignac's style renovation soon to bring them into modern times, they are done for IMO

and I shop at 5 different Rouse's stores in the NOLA metro, and they seem to have none of the problems BR folks are complaining about. Weird that 70 miles can make such a difference.

1. AWG >>>> AG
2. Rouses uses more secondary suppliers than they should.
3. Rouses bought off more than they could chew, but they are steadily improving.
4. In 10 years or less AG will be a thing of the past.

serious question: how do you trademark a burrito recipe? They're literally all the same.

This! frickin' Walmart runs every decent grocery out of business undercutting them with crap quality products. Sorry, but "select" grade meat sucks. If you're happy with that, you love your double-wide too.

They recently started selling Choice.

Their green onion and cajun sausage is great, but unless something's changed that boudin ain't no good.

I was always a big Rouse's proponent, but I've just about given up buying beef from there. Top of the pack always looks great, but it's always brown underneath. Doesn't help that they're charging meat market prices for it.

That doesn't happen at NuNu's, plus NuNu's prices are better.

I'm not sure but I don't see them going anywhere. I think Rouse's will sell to Publix in the next 3-5 years though

Never know about the grocery business. It's a low margin business. Rouses may well sell.

I have a 180 degree opposite experience with you in regards to their produce. I get sh!t from them all the time that's quite fresh. Especially with dairy, I have them custom slice their Gouda blocks for me at the Deli and they're fantastic. I also love their sliced blocks for use with some Pepper Bacon Jelly they sell. Delicious.

You having a problem with their meats confirms you have an axe to grind. They're superior to anyone else in that department. Their butcher is a beast and he cuts for me to order. Very willing to work with you.

The other thing is this: If they don't carry it and you ask for it, they'll ask you when you plan on coming back. The Denham store bought a jump van so they could fill grocery orders for tugboat captains on the River.

Hell if I could buy stock in the joint I would. Love me some Rouses.

Pretty sure 85% of Ascension Parish has had a similar spoiled meat and rotten produce experience post-Leblanc's sale to Rouses. Previous 11 Page Thread of Rouses Complaints

I used to live near the downtown NOLA one, which is really nice, clean and has great stuff (though it’s small).. the one Uptown is also fairly nice, though it keeps getting robbed, literally the last two Saturdays i’ve gone there, they’ve had an armed robbery that very morning.. recently went to the one in Metairie near Lakeside mall and i was surprised how trashy it was... So lately i’ve started going to Robert Market sometimes (it’s kind of expensive), Trader Joe’s and Winn Dixie.

I used to like Rouses when they first came to Denham Springs and Antioch at Airline Highway location.

Today, not so much.

Spoiled produce, dairy and meats have turned me away. I actually miss LeBlanc's.

Rouses grew too fast through acquisition. And it's obvious now they didn't have a good foundation that allowed them to maintain their original store standards.

this

rouses used to be GOAT, now its bottom of the barrel.

Rouses quality has gone down slightly on their meat.
I now buy my meat from Ralph’s or bring my yeti ice chest to buy meat from HEB or Kroger when I am in Texas.

But they have every lane open, and they are on the way home and it reminds me of how grocery stores were 25 years ago. Like Delchamp's, Schwegman's and such.
Though I agree they need to renovate, they have all that space too.
