Is this a fallout from the lost sales during the food stamps shut down? 5 boxes of cereal for 5 dollars. 6 bags of Doritos for the price of 3. Who tf is buying 6 bags of doritos?
Probably at least some GLP-1 effect also.

My wife brought home 5 bags of chips the other day. I thought she had lost her mind, but there was a deal at the store;
Buy two, get three free

And it didn’t have to be the same type. It was mix & match including Fritos, Cheetos, and Doritos.

Great observation….gotta be lowering demand…likely because snap can no longer be used to buy junk food

Awhile back I got the items to make po'boys and I went to get a bag of Lays BBQ chips.. It was either almost $5 or just over $5. I wasn't paying that for a half bag of air. It was out of principle. That is expensive for a bag of thin sliced potatoes with seasoning. The amount in that bag and the bag itself probably cost $0.60. Then there is distribution and everything, but it shouldn't cost anymore than about $3 for that bag.

Look around you. Everyone is fat. Doesn't matter where you go. Store, shopping mall, airport, restaurant, hell even the gym. All full of obese slobs.

Be sure to check your meat expiration dates too. They are holding on to inventory longer.

Very good advice, especially if you do pick-ups. They will try to pass you something that expires same day or the next in a heartbeat. We only do GM products for pickup now for that reason.

There’s a few interesting macro things happening especially with junk food, sweets and drinks

1) In general, young people are more health conscious around everything (including alcohol)

2) Semaglutides - suppressing appetite so a lot of previous prime consumer are snacking less so they aren’t buying as often

3) Grocery online ordering/delivery - now with Walmart+ and grocery drive up pickup and delivery, people are more deliberate with grocery ordering and less impulsive. Chips, candy and soft drinks are bought through displays and end caps while walking the store or also at point of sale and people aren’t standing in check out lines anymore

4) Electric Cars - Similar to above, with more people in EVs and charging at their house, they rarely ever go to gas stations anymore. And again, chips candy and snacks are sold at convenience stores and are impulse purchases
