Its Time To Stop The Panic & Just Ride This Out

The board has been filled with people bitching and complaining about the Coronavirus and how everything is shutting down.
There are some people who think this is a political thing. Some people think its an overreaction. People are bitching because their life is put on hold.
How about this? Personally, I think the government is doing a pretty good job with this. I am sure that is an unpopular take around here, but I get it. At first, I thought it was overreaction. I really did, but now I get it. It is mostly about resources and to not overwhelm the system we need to all just chill and do our part.
It's not the end of the world. If you woke up this morning it is a good day. Sometimes you have to sacrifice things. That's life. I hate that there are no sports on, but I get it. I hate that there are some people who are so fricking selfish they go out and buy so much of certain supplies that it leaves their fellow humans having to go around looking for those supplies because some a-hole felt the need to overstock. But what are you going to do?
Calm the frick down. Three months from now we will be back to normal (or getting there) and life will go on. Be thankful for what you have. Take a deep breath. Let it out slowly and just be cool. Like a HS teacher used to tell us "It'll be alright in the morning"..

I never thought I could dislike someone on a message board, you have proved me wrong.

did you go into a time machine? these are the talking points from last week
it's a bit different now

it's very likely we won't be. flattening the curve isn't about isolating the virus so it dies out. it extends the period of time we deal with it

So
No,YouTube video of people running around screaming there is a panic?
No, YouTube videos of Karen wanting to speak to the president about the ban on travel ball, sit down restaurants, etc?
Now you will see the Karen videos of her having to cook.
No, YouTube video of people doing stupid stuff to disobey the government request to close bars, casinos, and eating inside a restaurant?
Life is not worth living if we cannot get the above on Facebook or YouTube!
Anything with involving a Karen haircut would be funny.

SFP, I like you. You seem like a good dude. Obviously you are intelligent, but you are freaking out man.. We have no idea what will happen. And whatever does we just got to go with the punches.
This country has recovered from a lot worse. Life is a balance. When things seem to be going too good it will bring us down to reality at some point, when things seem to be going bad.. At some point it will get better. The law of average.

Dude, stop freaking out. Economic disaster is worth it in this scenario. Just calm down and accept that life has bumps, mannn.

Yes.. But I also have a 401k that is tanking. Went through this in 2008-09. Sure it could get bad but my point is.. What are you going to do? It will eventually get better. Really, there is nothing to do but ride it out. Sure it sucks.. but I promise you.. Long term, it will be fine.

Unlikely
ETA: if these measures prove to be effective, they aren’t stopping after 2-3 weeks because that would risk another surge in infections.
Barring an unprecedented injection of liquidity into the American and European populace, we’re heading into a deep economic crisis, imo.

I think outside of social media, regular media, and toilet paper hoarders folks overall are being calm. I’m not a fan of everything shutting down but I have a hard time blaming local governments for doing what they think is right.
ETA: I should add when I say panic I’m meaning chaos. People losing their jobs or taking a big cut in pay is obviously a huge issue, I’m not meaning to downplay that. And there is obviously panic in the stock market. So ignore most of what I said above, which I assume most were doing anyways

Actually one of OweO's better posts. It reads more like a Facebook op-ed by a soccer mom who regularly posts inspirational quotes but he is a voice of reason on the OT, I upvoted.

I disagree but who knows. Things may not be completely normal in 3 months but I feel things will be pretty close back to normal.

Well I hope you are wrong, time will tell. The amount of businesses that may fall due to this is a major concern. I’m hoping things turn around relatively soon (1-2 months)
Again, I’m hoping
