Agree. I had just stopped to look bc everyone raves over them and I’ve never seen them in the wild. Only when someone brings to work. I didn’t buy one.

The vast majority of the “traditional” king cakes from famous New Orleans bakeries are fricking gross. Randazzo’s is gross, Gambino’s gross, Caluda’s gross, Haydel’s gross.
But give me Dong Phuong all day.
That's certainly a take

They sell these Mexican versions in Texas.
Did not inspire confidence enough to purchase.

3 pages in and not one mention of a traditional king cake. Levee Bakery has my favorite.
They are x100 better than any cinnamon roll or donut version.
(This one was from Maple Street Patisserie. RIP)

Kalunda needs to sue Costco, they're selling a Calunda king cake.

Might be delicious, but not a King Cake.
King Cakes aren't filled.
I don't care if it's the best damn tasting baked good ever created. It's still not a King Cake.

the grocery was $34. I kept walking. Filled was $38. I miss the days of dropping for king cake most places and it was way under $20.

Randazzo is the goat….without all that BS filling. I don’t want cream cheese in my damn king cake.

Has anyone found a decent McKenzie's duplicate yet?
The new hubigs is a mix between the McKenzies but more pillowy dough, and Randazzo’s but way less frosting and sugar.

Yep, not a dry arse piece of bread with over sweet crust of sugar on the top. It is just good shite.

The plain one from Rouses is good. I don’t care for filled ones. More of an OG guy.
