And it's always the chick buying the car for the dude. Even less realistic

Saw that one today. He gets her a puppy. She buys him a truck. And it just appears right as she whistles for it plowing through the snow by an unknown driver obviously with nothing better to do for Christmas. Oh AND she’s hot as hell.

Oh and where does one find those huge arse bows these cars come wrapped in?

This guy is asking the real questions

Who in the hell is driving a brand new surprise truck through the snow on Christmas day? Grandma?

Well if you're spouse is like mine and is overwhelmed by the options and negotiating...you just might.

Exactly. Our first car I went and bought it myself. Saleswoman said, doesn't your wife need to be here to make sure she likes it? I told her if she wants a sale the last thing you will want is my wife making decisions. She will waste your time, then say something off the wall like I think I'll just keep my car.

Took it home. She loved it.

Now that we are older she picks out the car in general, but I go and pick out the options to make sure we get everything.

These are the most unrealistic commercials on tv.

I agree that it hardly ever happens, but my neighbor bought his wife a Honda Pilot one year.

Easy. Just keep the receipts in case it doesn’t fit.

A drinking buddy of mine literally did this last Christmas. 2025 model Grand Wagoneer.

It's actually a thing.

But my wife would be elated and definitely give zero shits that i didn’t discuss it with her first

It's the job of most men to fix the money problems created for the family, regardless of who causes it. Of course she doesn't give a shite. Some of the actual boomers here take the stance that their wives handle the bills, but that's not a Gen X stance from what I can tell.

I wish I could buy my husband the truck he really wants for Christmas - if I could pull that off, that’d be the greatest thing. But I’m sure I’d get some feature wrong.

And I can’t take 80k out without questions

Not true. The OT is full of tales of just having "bought my wife a new vehicle."

So, we need more "I brought my spouse in to make a responsible vehicle purchase"' commercials?

My grandfather bought my grandmother a car not once but twice before on Christmas. And She bought him a truck one year. It’s not unreasonable.. Hell I’ve considered doing it for my wife.

Not true. If you actively communicate with your spouse, you know the colors they approve of, particular equipment that they prefer, and the make & model that they mention. Or, you can do what I do, get a Yukon in either black or white with the most powerful engine available(maybe for me), and ask her to drive it

Who does this if not seriously considering buying a car? You basically supported 95% of the idea people are going to discuss it before making a purchase like this
