Its strange that there isn't more discussion of Lamont Cole...

Not necessarily here, but in general. Nothing on the news since he was arrest.
So you have a school superintendent who has been indicted on felony charges for taking bribes. He also used his influence to get an employee fired for question the quality of the work done by Cole's partners in crime. This is a guy who is guiding the spending of the largest employer in East Baton Rouge and one of the largest in the state. EBR Schools has a $850m budget. Since his arrest, the only story I've seen on him is a fluff piece on one of his programs. As a tax payer, I find this appalling.
I just find it strange.

Lamont is being witch hunt. This young man has done nothing but try to improve Baron Rouge through robust programs and community outreach. And for what? For Jeff Landry to try to take him down for being a proud black man in America.

By and large, the people in EBR who would be most outraged don't send their kids to EBRSS schools and the people who send their kids to EBRSS schools don't think this is outrageous behavior.
The EBR taxpayers would probably be more angry if it were another agency beside EBRSS. But those people expect EBRSS to waste their taxes anyway and don't care enough to fight about it because it doesn't affect their kids who aren't in the public school system anyway.
For both sides it's looked at as "business as usual" (from two opposing viewpoints)

The leak of him being investigated was covered extensively and his indictment/arrest was covered by literally everyone. I’m sure every court date he has will likewise get extensive coverage. What would you like for the media to be discussing at the moment, when there is no new information and, presumably, discovery hasn’t been tendered?
Plenty to discuss later; very little to discuss now.

Honestly, I expected more vocal outrage from political opponents, even on the board, calling for him to step aside for an interim while the indictment is in place.

Ok, that I could see. But with that said, that kind of performative outrage plays much better in national politics than it does local politics. Almost no one pays attention to a school board elections. Incumbents don’t really need to churn headlines. If the board had the votes to push him out, they would likely be beating their chests over it. They apparently don’t, so it’s better for them to just keep their heads down on the off chance he manages to beat these charges. It’s mostly no-win for local politicians to grandstand on issues like this, unless they want to move up from being local politicians.

There was a story about him showing up to his first school board meeting after being arrested. The not-so-subtle theme was:
Things will heat back up when the actual trial starts or if more big names in state or local politics are indicted.

I saw a FB post where someone was defending him with the R word... because white people have been getting away with that for hundreds of years.
