re: It's probably been covered before, but has any fast-food chain fallen as hard as KFC?

We are Popeyes people, and to a lesser extent Southern Classic.

I've eaten at KFC maybe 3 times in my life and it's because I was out of state in a town without a Popeyes.

seems to vary a lot by individual store, but I really like their cracker thin crust and have been fortunate to find good stores in my former and current location

BK is one of the chains with the least control by corporate over day to day operations IIRC, and it shows when franchisees half arse everything.

McD may not be great but the franchisee typically has their feet held to the fire by corporate. They perform or corporate will find someone who will.

We don't have a Popeyes nearby. I think the closest one is about 30 miles away.

I haven't eaten there in a few years (many years maybe?) but I do remember thinking their potato wedges were pretty fire.

KFC biscuits are the worst thing I've ever tasted and they should be ashamed. Church's and Popeye's have them lapped about 10 times over.

I don't eat a lot of fast food fried chicken anymore though, that stuff is heart disease in a box.

Fried chicken liver at KFC were the bomb. Along with their corn on the cobb.

Restaurant quality is dropping everywhere, especially fast food.

We should all start cooking more.

We don't eat out very often. That just adds to the disappointment.

KFC always sounds better in my head.

When I think of that crispy, flavorful chicken, I want it.

Then we get it. It's all soggy and the crisp is still white in places and it's just mushy chicken.

Did I dream that there were Plantation chicken restaurants? Couldn't find a picture.

we've got two near where I live, one is decent, goofy employees but the chicken is pretty much what you expect, the other is apparently owned by Indians(dot,) I think her chicken is really pigeon, dirty, seedy place, when they first opened up they tried to be cash only, if you go inside it barely resembles a Popeye's, hard to imagine that corporate doesn't insist on some qc, standardization

The KFC in my hometown is the only fast food restaurant that I can’t remember when it opened. I know it was there in the mid 70s when I was a little kid because I remember going there for lunch after church. This would have been about 1975, so it’s at least 50 years old.

It closed down about 3 months ago and now one of those trendy coffee shops is moving into that building.

KFC is banging in Asia, super popular and high quality.

Egg tarts are legendary! Zabb wingz too.

Trendy spots make it tough for older brands to shake back. The new shine wears off quicker and for those that do come back you have to beat out the air social media presence. Chili's is a case study worth following

It used to be really good. In the 80s my grandma would throw down like 35 bucks and get the huge meal with all the sides and everything and it was amazing. Like everything else it went to shite little by little.

It’s fine where I live. Same as always. I do like the original recipe.
