"It's bad for New Orleans," said the woman, who has worked in the area for six years. But she added she doesn't think it will change anything. "It will be back to business as normal. Nobody cares."

People care down here. I work in sales down in the Quarter. I care. A lot. The problem is that New Orleans is so dependent on tourism and hospitality that we all have to ACT like it's no big deal.

But this is why so many locals avoid the Quarter Thanksgiving weekend. It's not racism. It's just that we don't want to get murdered.

A 60 person fight makes the news buddy I lived in Nola for a long time that level of people clashing is large by any standard

I remember a few years back an incident much worse than a 60 person fight. NOPD units had bricks coming through their windows. Never was on the news.

I doubt the shooter had anything to do with Southern or Grambling. The problem with BC is all of the local thugs come out at night and hang in the FQ trying to showoff their ride and bang hoes. Combine that with BR thugs coming in town and you've got a recipe for disaster. Same thing is starting to happen during Essence now.

Here is a novel idea. Southern has a stadium, Grambling has a stadium. Every other year they play at each other's stadium like just about every other regular season college game.

How is his statement racist?

Every year they have ridiculous problems when that shite show of a game is held in NOLA.

Maybe the people attending should act like adults instead of causing problems every freaking year.

You know there are lots of great areas to visit other than the FQ and Bourbon Street don't you?

The press is reporting that at least 30 officers were already in the vicinity when the shooting occurred. Pretty terrible when it's not even safe because of these criminals with law-enforcement right there.

Uptown away from the rifraf? Uptown is just as bad. Tulane student carjacked middle of day last week on a busy Uptown intersection. Uptown in not safe.

Canal and Bourbon is a dump. The only way to change stuff like this from happening is to change the culture in that area. It's a bad area that should be nice.

I'm so tired of hearing that. I have lived in the city for over a decade and have never been a victim or witnessed any type of violence nor do I personally know anybody that has been a victim. Crime can happen anywhere and this city is not unsafe.
