Sustainability is an issue. Not just of whales but the ecosystems they reside in.

Also whales being an emotionally complex animal that might have some level of sentience.

And you never know what we'll need if one of our probes hits up an alien probe and comes back.

I hate it but it's their culture and they will be sustainable about it at least. Also, Japan is based as frick.

Their culture is catching and killing whales on an industrial scale? Very strange culture

Congratulations. You have the grammar skills and intellectual articulation of a child.

I could run circles around you as it pertains to grammar, and the choppy, repetitive syntax of that sentence was intentional. My apologies if it went over your head; I imagine that’s a frequent occurrence for you.

You really couldn't, and that is my professional opinion.

Sounds like we both work in professions known for their writing and oratorical skills. If one has stronger grammar than the other, it’s likely negligible.

As for your silly image retort, look at my post history. Decide whether it is more likely that I made a stylistic choice to mirror and therefore emphasize that I was insulting someone for being childish, or whether I momentarily forgot how to wield the English language.

Or don’t. Doesn’t much matter to me

I won’t comment on idiotic and barbaric, but I’m sympathetic to the argument that killing a highly intelligent, very slow reproducing, apex/near apex predator without an extremely pressing reason isn’t the best of ideas. If whale oil cured cancer, that would be one thing. But just adding whale products to fulfill needs/wants already being well filled by other sources doesn’t seem worth the environmental impact.

Why don’t you go protest the chicken auschwitzes by padlocking yourself to the conveyor belt.

Just so we are clear, I'm all for eating whatever animal you want to eat as long as the total animal is used and the killing is humane and the consumption is sustainable. What I hate is that since a whale is more "human" than a chicken, that we have created some sort of animal hierarchy that values one animal more than another because of feelings.

Pigs are highly intelligent. Is it the reproduction issue, then, mostly?

I've been applying for a Japanese whaling permit for years. Finally started making some progress last week. They said it could be 3-5 more months before I receive the full permit. This is good news.

so i guess this means that terrorist group on the shepard will be back on TV attacking ships and trying to cause dangerous collisions with ships just so they can play the victims.

they drive little boats up under the bows of ships then drop ropes and cables to jam up the steering and props of the ships doing extreme damage to them and then, if something goes wrong, they scream "look they ran us over on purpose" when the ship has no choice but to run them over

It’s a combination of all three, but the slow rate of reproduction and status as apex predator would differentiate whales from pigs in my mind, yes.

Problem is that Captain Kool Aid is about 100 years old now and the Crunchy Bunch are all probably tranny activists and DNC staffers.

Who will rise to the challenge?

Just so I’m clear, I really didn’t want you to get strangled by a bike lock attached to a conveyor belt.

I understand your point I just disagree with it. I think the only animals I wouldn’t eat if I wasn’t starving would be dogs. I’ll try anything once.

If it nuclear apocalypse, I’d eat someone’s dog. Just not mine.

Not that I care but are you supposed to use a comma before and?
