Yep like I said, fricking millennials.

You'll have kids one day and when you say "do you want to go to the toy store?" they think you have just given them 2.2 billion dollars. It's awesome, but getting them out is a different story

We can all sit here and go down memory lane, but the fact is that very few of us have actually been inside a Toys R Us in years.

Overpriced, understaffed, and outdated buildings.

I dont wanna grow up because if I did, I couldnt be a Toys R Us kid

All these betas that played with toys growing up the only toys I got to play with was my old mans ole wore out welding rig when he got a new 100k welding machine

I think the fact that todays toys suck helped as well. I take my boys to the store to look for toys and other than nerf guns its pretty slim pickings.

I don't know why these brick and mortar giant retailers didn't see this coming and get ahead of it by downsizing the actual stores and switching to large warehouses and trying to have a bigger online presence to compete with companies like Amazon

I had toys as a kid but I also loved shite like this. I remember at 10 years old I took the engine off a worn out go kart and converted an old electric golf cart to gas by installing the go kart engine and changing the belt pulley to a chain sprocket and made brackets to lift the seat high enough. And welded a brush guard on it

I’m not a financial savant, but you don’t realize the stupodity of your statement.

The margins were there to keep going. I didn’t say it was lucrative.

If it didn’t make enough money to both run the business and make the interest payments on the imvestments, how on earth is it a slam dunk plan to put massive amounts of money down, run the business? Obviously it would be better returns putting your money elsewhere. Even in something as “safe” as corporate bonds.

And part of what you describe will happen. Only in an extremely watered down usage of the name. Not as a brick and mortar store. Exact same as circuit City.


Doesn’t discount how Best Buy was able to survive and now even thrive.
