It's all semantics. She can't "cancel Mardi Gras". Mardi Gras is a holiday.

She can deny parade permits. But Mardi Gras is more than parades... so... she can cancel parades while also saying she's "not cancelling Mardi Gras".

Large socially distanced concerts are happening now and giving them some proof of concept. I don’t think you see 100k packed into the fairgrounds but could see something fill it’s place

It’s sorta dystopian too. Dave Chappell is doing a socially distant show in Houston, tickets are in the $300

A pod concert jazz fest for only the wealthy isn’t going to much for anyone besides the Uber wealthy

I'd venture to guess he spends upwards of $10K a year to ride and attend all the functions they have during the year.

Only if they’re paying for there daughter to be a maid. I’ve been riding tucks for several years now. We do all the parties and get extra throws. Never paid more than $4k a year for both my wife and I.

I have a family member that might not be around next November. We are having a traditional Thanksgiving this year. We will wear masks and spread out if needed.

She is pissing on us and calling it rain. I am going to lose it when she says parade at home and there will be virtual parades.

I lost three family members since april. Number of funerals I was able to attend? 0. And two of them had wishes to "go home" after and have their ashes spread in their birthplace. They are still waiting at the funeral home.

With all the shite that has happened to all the people in the country and in the world im surprised it hasnt come back to the idiots that put us in this place to begin with.

WWL from Nov 5
quote:

NEW ORLEANS — Mayor LaToya Cantrell on Thursday told Carnival krewe captains to submit recommendations by Dec. 5 on how their parades might proceed with Mardi Gras 2021, while observing guidelines to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Cantrell repeated her announcement earlier in the day that Mardi Gras 2021 is “not cancelled, just different.” She and other city leaders spoke at a virtual meeting of the Mayor’s Mardi Gras Advisory Committee, which is made up of captains and representatives of all the city’s parading clubs.

WWL on Nov 17

quote:

NEW ORLEANS — Parades "of any kind will not be permitted" in New Orleans for the 2021 Carnival season, according to a FAQ published on the city's official website.

"Parades of any kind will not be permitted this year because large gatherings have proven to be super spreader events of the COVID-19 virus," the FAQ titled “Mardi Gras 2021 FAQs.”

Mobile has a republican mayor, and Alabama has a republican governor.

I wonder if Mobile will go all-in on their Mardi Gras this year.
