Or a beer direct from the brewery in many states, the captilostic bastion of Texas included. Money speaks for money.

This. Just like an insurance claim I'd imagine.

Why should a person have to waste their time playing games with a dealer?

You don't, you're more than welcome to pay what they're asking

My dealer use to show me the invoice of what they paid, deducte all incentives currently offered and mark up from there. I had always gone to 2 or 3 other dealers to get prices. My original dealer was always cheaper.
I have the X Plan through work so I don’t got that route anymore.

I've seen a few Tesla dealerships in Jersey and they seem to be owned by Tesla themselves, which is the best way to go about it. I might despise Musk for other reasons, but this is the best way to go about it, IMO.

Yah this works great. This guy bought a used tesla from them in October and still doesn't have his car. He goes all the way to pick up a loaner at the Tesla center and they have no record of it. Going into a Tesla store or service center with a problem is like going to an Apple store and complaining. You'll never get high enough to get resolution. LINK

Try buying whisky straight from a distillery. The Feds will be ready to imprison you.

The car mfg do not have the money to keep that much inventory on hand. The dealers take on the debt of storing vehicles for sale along with the parts. Like it or not the mfg is in business to make the vehicles and not store vehicles or parts.

I hate dealerships as much as the next guy but factory direct would take a paradigm shift in many facets of ownership.

Then why not allow other business models and let the chips fall where they may?

Our entire economy is just one big rent-seeking exercise.

Which is exactly what a dealership is. Unless you think Ford should let T-Boy's garage be an approved repair facility.

If you were truly capitalist, you'd start your own car company and sell direct.

Part of the problem is you might not be allowed to in some states that protect the dealership model

If it were profitable for the manufacturers, they would do it.

And the hell with driving to Detroit to buy a car. My time is more valuable to waste days on that shite.

And what if you wanted a car not made in the USA?

You need an honest car salesman to protect you from the cutthroat car companies. We actually save you money
