It's BS how people can't just buy a new car from the manufacturer.

If we were truly capitalist, you'd give people the opportunity to fly to Detroit or wherever else the manufacturer is, buy the car from the factory without the BS stealership haggling and addons and let them drive it back home.

All this "dealerships create competition" crap is fake news, considering how stealerships have a monopoly on an area and just get passed down typically from parent to child.

I'm not saying make stealerships illegal. If you want to get gouged, that's your perogative. But people should have the opportunity to go to GM, Dodge, etc. directly to make a purchase.

EDIT: Of course this all goes back to the National Dealership Association buying politicians to pass these shite laws that create psuedo monopolies and creating mandatory middlemen.

Dealerships, nowadays, are nothing more than banks attached to a mechanic shop.

The whole dealership model is so outdated it’s ridiculous.

Manufacturers should have taken back sales/service decades ago.

This would apply to every manufacture then. Manufactures have distributors to make it convenient for you to make purchases. Hence Walmart or Target.

No argument from me, the various state governments protecting dealers is what keeps this from changing.

If you were truly capitalist, you'd start your own car company and sell direct.

Weird melt.

You don’t have to buy a new car from a “stealership”. Actuallly, any smart individual doesn’t. Sorry that you make $30k yet have a $1k per month note. How about you live within your means?

Then you get to send them back to Detroit on a tow truck when you make a warranty claim.

I hate dealerships as much as the next guy but factory direct would take a paradigm shift in many facets of ownership.

In most industries, direct-to-consumer isn't illegal like it is in the auto industry in some states. That's the problem - not that there are distributors (which many industries have even when there are no laws preventing D2C).

If distributors actually add value, then they shouldn't be pushing laws that protect them like that.

there is nothing more capitalist than stealerships. Capitalism is essentially all about getting the wealthy and influential all the money they can get whatever it takes. Isn't that what you described.

It is against state law in all but five states. Tesla had challenged the laws, but only managed to get it change on a limited basis in New Jersey.

How am I melting? I'm making a societal observation and then saying my opinion.

And you kind of have to buy from a dealer if your state law mandates it.

I make more per hour sleeping than you do on overtime.

In other news, sorry you can't find a wife.

I've seen a few Tesla dealerships in Jersey and they seem to be owned by Tesla themselves, which is the best way to go about it. I might despise Musk for other reasons, but this is the best way to go about it, IMO.

You would use factory approved repair facilities just like any other product.
