Found out yesterday, that we bought a 17lb turkey and 1/2 the people aren't coming after all.

MIL's brother and his family are opting to go to Comic Con

MIL's twice divorced husband (wife's step dad) doesn't want to be around my wife's dad's side.

So we are left with:

My MIL, who is already trying to guilt trip us to have a last minute Thanksgiving with the step dad after Thursday because he basically still pays for a bunch of her stuff (he obviously doesn't know how divorce works)

My wife's Grandma and long term live in boyfriend, who she will never marry in order to keep military medical benefits from her divorced Air Force husband.

My wife's Aunt, a recovering alcoholic and drug addict, and her recovering alcoholic and drug addict ex-bf who she still lives with.

I wish my wife's family had some fireworks every now and then. They're good folks, but pretty boring.

A few years back was it Thanksgiving or Christmas the husband was having a wank in the bathroom and casting the porn to the family room TV and all the relatives?

ladies and gentlemen, the modern american family:

I've attended dozens of thanksgiving with families and never had a crazy relative story.

I may be. I'll with my nephews, get pretty drunk most holidays and make inappropriate jokes.

Luckily I don’t host holidays. I show up, have a plate of food, and roll the eff out

Oooh, as far as potential for familial Thanksgiving shenanigans go, You sir, are the leader in the clubhouse.

On Thursday, Please consider live postings directly from the dinner table. OT Legend status for you could only be a few slipped Oxy’s or Jack and 7’s away.

Looking forward to seeing my sister’s step daughters nice arse. She certainly has matured into a lovely young lady.

One of my favorite posts from last year or the year before was the photos of the family members all eating in different corners on the yard on the ground/grass because of Covid. While the rest of the family enjoyed the meal inside together.

Even outside of holidays, doesn't it royally piss you off when you're trying to plan something and half of the attendees are "maybes"? Not even full out not coming, but this "maybe" bullshite where they want to decide last minute if they'll come or not. You cannot plan around that.

but this "maybe" bull shite

It infuriates me. I tell them don't bother. You can "maybe" somewhere else. We have it on both sides but my SIL, BIL, and MIL are the fuggin worst.

I remember that one. I've always wondered exactly what about a family gathering made that guy think "I really should go jack off right now".

Then I saw this:
