Went to a place and they wanted me to use my phone to pay for parking by signing in and paying with a credit card.... Couldn;t I just stick some quarters in there or something.?? Thats bull...

I know this was a topic a year ago but it came to me again while enjoying a cigar while watching a show about the Apollo program.

Peak time for an American to be born was 1900. My great grandfather was born then (my great grandmother was a late 90s cradle robber) and was alive until 1991. Let's start with the obvious to get it out of the way... no internet/email meaning he was in the last generation who never knew home internet. His dad was a postal delivery carrier and he did it as well...on horse and buggy. His grandpa joined the Civil War late and mustered out about a year after Appomattox.

He lived through:
WW1 but young enough to avoid being sent there.
Spanish Flu
The Rise of the Soviet Union
First Cars
Great Depression
A/C
Electricity (I remember his house still having the original buttons in the 80s for turning sockets on/off)
WW2 but too old and spent the war farming his hundreds of acres
The partitioning of the Middle East
Invention of the TV
Commercial Flight
Korean War
Vietnam
Watergate
Iran Hostage Crisis
Black Monday
The Iron Curtain coming down (just missed the end of the Soviet Union)
And 2 months before dying, the first Gulf War

I doubt we ever have another 90+ year run like that. His generation was the first to fully benefit from the Industrial Revolution. My grandpa (burn in 1917... yeah he flipped that cradle right around on my ggp) always told me about having the only TV in town and the guys packed around to watch boxing on that small b&w screen.

This AI and drone stuff feels like it's another devolution started by that fricking shrew woman who dumped Zuckerberg in a bar. We can only hope that some day these drones decide to kamikaze every data center.

The majority of humans who have ever lived ended up living in a time when literal human shite just being outside was just a part of your normal day to day existence
