call me crazy here, but I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that the guy saying he'd pray for Satan probably isn't a Christian.

Why Benedict resigned is still a mystery. The man has lived almost an entire decade since that fateful day. To me he was perfect to carry on what Pope St. John Paul II had started. What's more, the man was a master theologian who wrote an insightful three volume treatise on Jesus of Nazareth. What's more he was a big traditionalist who expanded the allowance of the Traditional Latin Mass. In short...he was the right man at the right time - and then he resigned.

Pope Francis went on to contract the priests' ability to say the TLM and has made other controversial decisions that have confused and muddied the waters.

He just moved them to a different parish and the problem will go away.
you do understand that a local bishop can move a priest and not tell the Vatican, or the archbishop/cardinal/nuncio that he reports to??

Pope Francis has called on the faithful to pray for the former pontiff as he is described as being "very sick." A lot of chatter from the Vatican indicates he isn't long for this world.

Why? Isn't he going to Heaven to be with God? He is a friggin ex-Pope. Maybe he not going to Heaven??

he’s still a person, and it’s not up to us to judge - God will do that, and we have no idea how He will judge us

I know of one priest that drives a Mercedes and it was a gift from his mother

As for the wino part - can’t be a Catholic without being a wino

There is probably more than one pope who is in Hell right now. In fact...it's a guarantee. There have been some real bastards to hold that position in the last 2,000 years.

At the end of the day, God is the final judge. Hence why we pray for his soul because we don't know what he has done that could warrant eternal damnation.

Then they are getting extra income from somewhere else because the maximum salary a priest makes in the United States is just shy of $45,000 a year. The median salary is around $25,000. The highest paid members of the Catholic Church are lay positions such as lawyers.

Burn out is real, even at that level.

Chances are if Benedict hadn't resigned, he likely would've died before the end of the 2010s.

Sadly there are bishops out there who think it best to transfer the priest to a different parish and keep the incident on the DL.

The papacy has always been a globalist institution considering the fact that the Catholic Church is a, you know, GLOBAL organization.

What exactly are we praying for?
Healing?
Salvation?
Comfort?

I’ve always taken the stance that prayer should be for giving thanks to god for blessings and not so much for special requests
