But hospitals are private businesses. Shouldn’t they have the right to make decisions about their businesses. Is this not govt intrusion just like forcing someone to bake a cake for a same sex wedding? I agree the visitation rules are egregious but as a society we have to accept that we can’t have it both ways. The left and right need to follow the same rules/logic. It’s govt over reach in both scenarios.

I developed a severe lack of respect for the medical field over the past two years. I already had major issues with my own treatment but watching how fricking ridiculous they were during Covid, I loathe the system.

That's awful. I certainly can't blame you for that.

I remember who was president. Dude completely mismanaged Covid. fricking moron telling people "oh its gonna be over sometime in April when it warms up". Don't get me wrong, they are both idiots.. But for two presidential elections in a row all we had were fricking idiots to elect.

I remember who was in charge of the covid response - the same guy who still in charge of it now. The president said it should be up to the states to deal with it how they see fit. Some governors chose to lock everything down, make people wear masks, and threw covid patients into nursing homes. Some governors decided to not do those things. I wonder who's states ended faring better in the long run....

How will the media, who has banded together to hate all things DeSantis, spin this into a big negative for people of Florida?

I'm guessing :

CNN:" DeSantis signs bill the harms the vulnerable in hospitals "

MSNBC: " More whites allowed to visit hospitals in new DeSantis law in Florida "

A hospital can’t limit visitation? Wow and people are happy about this? You do know hospitals limit visitation in areas to keep patients alive. And now if you visit and kill another patient that family should sue you for all you are worth
Except that they would sue the hospital, which is why the rule was there in the first place.

As someone who spent 5 weeks in a hospital and rehab hospital learning to walk again during covid, I applaud this law.. the amount of people I saw give up hope bc they didn’t have friends and family there was depressing.. all I wanted was to see my kids and then other family and friends.. my wife needed a break from being the only person able to see me and provide the needed emotional support to physically recover.. I was lucky but saw a few just give up hope and either quit or just wither away , especially the elder patients

And the dumbasses on this board downvote it. Basically, this tells me that both sides don't truly support what they preach. If you are for something you should support it no matter what, not just when it benefits you.

Florida ranked 32nd out of 50 in Covid deaths per capita. Lack of leadership caused tens of thousands of additional deaths.

Florida has one of the oldest populations in North America. so now do New York, and the other 17 states that somehow did worse than Florida

and make sure to highlight the states who didn’t completely destroy their future economies, and aren’t having to run ads in other states begging people to come back

I swear to god some of you must listen to the same station, person, whatever and they do the thinking for you.

I am seeing "remember it" being repeated a lot. Is that something Carson Tucker or whatever his name says a lot? Does anyone have original thoughts?

Again, this shouldn't be a "this or that" issue. It shouldn't simply be they are going to either restrict visitation or they not.

Im being serious. If I am in the hospital its because something is wrong and I am likely not feeling well. It would make me feel more at peace if people other than someone who might be staying with me, is only able to stay for a certain time or have to be out by a certain time.

They got some people, when they go to the hospital, the whole damn family goes. That's not always good for the patient. And hospitals are filled with germs so there shouldn't be a lot of traffic with different people coming and going anyway.

If the florida governor had a D by his name people on this board would be outraged.

If someone is dying then yes obviously their kids should be in there with the spouse I think this is a stupid law. I know why he is doing it and I don't blame him. He has to build a stronger base for 2024 and do whatever he can to get in the headlines, but I think this is just too broad of a situation "Its illegal for Florida hospitals to restrict visitations".

Conservatives have become the more government party. Well, expect when it comes to things they support.. Then they don't want government telling them what to do.

My type being someone who understands concepts I presume.

The point was not can they do it, the point was should they be able to do it. No surprise you couldn't grasp that though
