These IDF operational updates have been really good so far:

Yep.

See Monty Python’s Life Of Brian, in which John Cleese had based all the anti-Roman groups on various political parties in England which all hated the Romans but hated each other even more.

“You know who I hate? The People’s Front of Judea!”

“… WE’RE the People’s Front of Judea.”

“I thought we were the Popular Front.”

“No, he’s over there. SPLITTER!”

This definitely sounds....different than normal. Israel is playing for keeps.

About the only people who didn’t see this coming after what happened last week are Hamas and the UN.

IDF really screwed up depending so much on tech for the border wall security. Actually made it easier for Hamas to break through without setting off alarms for an hour or so.

Technology in the battlespace is always a double-edged sword, particularly when fighting an asymmetrical enemy. Technology advantages bring out the innovation in lower-tech enemies and I have to admit I have been in awe of some of the approaches enemies have taken to turn our advantages into a disadvantage. Another example in this conflict is Hamas using thousands of low tech unguided rockets to overwhelm the Iron Dome.

All in all I would always rather have (well sorted) high tech in battle even if it does get exploited on occasion. However, it was always important to try to think like the enemy and look for the holes so you can plug them.

The IDF is about to go into MOUT with a caged feral enemy and they better have respect for the Hamas soldiers despite the technological advantages.

Evacuating 1.1M ppl in 24 hours just doesn’t seem remotely possible. This is a completely shitty situation and will likely create decades more of never ending turmoil between the people who live in these areas.

I suspect the population of Gaza will go from 2.5 to 500k within 12 months.

Well, they got 24 hours more notice than the people that were murdered and kidnapped this weekend.

He's been the public face of the IDF's response to the attacks from day one. He's good at delivering the message. You could tell he was legitimately shook early on (understandably so), but he's done well.

Yeah that looks shaded to pro-Hamas, but subtilely.

Hamas’ decision to slaughter over 1000 people in southern Israel had devastating humanitarian consequences too.

It is something like 7AM there now, my guess is that when that rooster starts crowing around 5-6AM tomorrow that anyone who doesn’t want to be a crispy critter better be out of Gaza City.

Looking at the satellite map that river looks to be 7 or 8 miles from the Northern border. There is going to be a lot of concrete riprap in Gaza City. They will be able to build a nice boat harbor.

There is no IRA. Remnant militant Irish republicanism is akin to violent white nationalism in the US - few in number, brain cells, and resources.

That is a very good and accurate line, and I am going to steal that.

i'm not suggesting that. i doubt they had anything to do with hamas. i only know they trained in the ME at some point.
The IRA used to train in N Africa with the PLO, in Libya primarily.

The PLO learned much of its bomb making techniques from the IRA in these training camps.

There is some shared socialist ideology, but that connection started as "a shared experience" relationship in those training camps.

IDF should announce that they are going to build an artificial reef and setup a gofundme page for their "green initiative in Gaza".

Seriously. The number of used cars shipping overseas would shock many people. The diesel VWs Volvos could bring in more than some new cars. Can’t find any around anymore
I swear I saw 100's of TX license plates in Luanda Angola. Every once in a while a Houston EZ-Tag up by the rear view mirror.

These were not auction cars... stolen and then taken to Mexico and ended up in Angola.

the citizens of Gaza City are not taking the evacuation order seriously.

hamas must want the civilian casualties to be as high as possible.
