Neteanyahu had really divided the country before all this started.

Not just divided the country, he was working with a divided government. One of his post-attack comments was that the division that existed within the Israeli government prior to this attack is "no more".

I said earlier in this thread that the critical thinker could look at some of what Bibi said, look at Egypt emphatically stating that they gave warning prior to the attack, and draw that conclusion.

I get all that, but you said that was the reason that there weren’t more IDF troops in the area on the day of the attacks. I hadn’t seen that.

Iranian President and Saudi crown prince speak for the first time...
quote:

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman discussed the Palestinian-Israeli conflict on Wednesday, in the first telephone call between the two leaders since a China-brokered deal between Tehran and Riyadh to resume ties.

Raisi and the Saudi crown prince discussed the "need to end war crimes against Palestine," Iranian state media said.

No it’s about Supreme Court reform. Like changing who picks judges which currently is basically supremes and the bar association as they make up 5 on a 9 member committee. 5 is all that’s needed to approve any judge below Supreme Court. Just 2 more are needed for supreme picks.
Current:
quote:

The Judicial Selection Committee is composed of nine members. Three of them are Supreme Court judges, two are representatives of the Bar Association, two are Knesset members and two are ministers.

They also want to codify judicial review which we could use as well since our supremes gave it to themselves.

They probably want too strong of a nullification power given to legislators (simple majority I think), but nullification is needed. We need it spelled out as well.

Court leans very left and with current selection committee basically stays there. They have increased their own power over the years. They also seem to favor non-citizens over citizens with many rulings.

I did read some IDF were not reporting for this before attack, but I can’t remember which part or parts of Supreme Court reform was causing it. It might also be going legislative route, but I don’t know their constitution. I want our reform through a constitutional amendment.

Regarding hostages taken by Hamas, they are likely being held by the Shadow Unit, a special division specifically trained to hold hostages. I can imagine this group has been discussed in classified briefings by Israel and Western intelligence agencies in recent days.

I remember Iran’s Supreme Leader sending out a warning on Oct 3 (or close to then) that Saudi was backing the wrong horse by negotiating ties with Israel. He knew what was coming and set up this need to talk with Saudi Arabia.

Maybe they can work out taking the women and children from gaza to Iran & Saudi Arabia…

Oh I didn't mean that specific area. Just that it was happening in general. I don't know where people standing down at that specific time and odds are they aren't going to release that info unless Netanyahu tries to scapegoat them to hang onto power.

Even if there were no people standing down on the border the protests and refusals to report still would have caused a serious strain on their ability to gather and process intelligence in the lead up and most likely would have hindered their ability to respond.

.@AMPalestine is a Hamas affiliate led by former members of the Holy Land Foundation, the Islamic Assoc for Palestine, and KindHearts. All three orgs were shut down by the US gov for financing Hamas. No surprise they're engaging in PR for Hamas.

Also worth mentioning that @AMPalestine is the main sponsor/organizer of @NationalSJP, whose chapters are organizing pro-Hamas rallies on college campuses across the US.

Hamas doesn't want the women and children taken from Gaza. "Do not leave your homes. We live in our homes, we will die in our homes."

With compulsory military service, I doubt any of those youths expected to be called up when posting glamour shots on the gram. Highly doubt their loving parents are enthused about the prospect of their son or daughter going to war soon...

Thanks be to G-d that will not happen...

This thing is already simmering down with the quickness despite the righteous anger and indignation from warmongers, just like every last skirmish before this one...

This is not a novel situation...
