My wife watches was too much Dateline to leave our doors unlocked. So many people have been killed just because their door was unlocked.

Perhaps not, but the inside of my house is safe enough to leave the doors unlocked.

One evening I came home from work so sick (pre-Corona days obviously) and disoriented that I unlocked the back door and left the keys in the lock on the outside all night. I found them there the next day. We didn’t die so I guess the neighborhood is safe.

Don't live in a neighborhood, but in my own private park. But yes, totally safe. Leave cars and house unlocked alot, but do try to lock the house doors at night when I'm not too wasted.

Everybody knows that people out where i live are heavily armed. We have no problem w theft.

I've accidentally left windows open and doors unlocked quite a few times.
Never had a any Issues.

It helps that we have only 0.9% of a certain demographic

No. Meth Heads moving in down the street. Figure soon I'll be dodging bullets while sitting in my recliner watching television. Welcome to Joe Biden's America heathens.

Very safe. I live in the center of my town. Never lock house, truck, shed. Even when gone for days at a time. Crime is almost non-existent here.

Other than when we are out of town I can't remember when our doors have been locked. It is unlikely anything but a professional thief would even get to our property and ANY door lock can be defeated quietly in a couple of minutes by a professional thief. The difference between a cheap lock and a quality high-security lock is the difference between 15 seconds and 2 minutes per cylinder for a good lock picker. If you don't believe me watch The Lock Picking Lawyer on Youtube.

But why?

I was in a house fire when younger and the key wasn’t in the old style double keyed deadbolt. Have had a phobia about locked doors ever since then.

In this country with the way that things are....I'd have to live in the backwoods of like Oregon or Colorado literally hundreds of miles from any human to sleep with my door unlocked.

If I wanted to face the very real possibility of being woken up with a gun to my head? Yes.

Otherwise? No.

I've done it on accident several times but I don't think I'd do it willingly every night
