Is your body composition a sign of how wealthy you are?

Relatively speaking for the average American? Used to be back in the 50’s and 60’s, a nice fat belly indicated that you were wealthy and could afford good food. I think the opposite holds true today. Like 80% of the obese population seems to be on medicaid and living off food stamps. Seems like in order to keep yourself in shape, you need to afford healthier food (which is more expensive) supplements, gym memberships, etc.
TL/DR
Fat= poor
Fit = wealthy
TL/DR
Fat= poor
Fit = wealthy

It doesn't cost any money to walk a mile every other day or so. But many people are too lazy to even try that.

Explain?
Leaner cuts of meat are more expensive (96% beef vs 75 or 80%)
Canned vegetables are cheaper than fresh vegetables
ETA: snacking on cashews and walnuts is more expensive than chips

The biggest thing you can do to not be obese is not eat. Not eating costs nothing.

Chicken breast is cheaper than both

Canned vegetables aren't any better or worse than fresh. If you are worried about the sodium (you shouldnt be) rinse them with water.

I know plenty of skinny and obese wealthy people and know plenty of skinny and obese poor people.
So the answer to your question is no.
Also, poor trashy people Workout and stay in shape just as much as wealthy people do.

People don't know what eating healthy really means. They think they have to go spend $40/meal on a bunch of organic bullshite at whole foods or its not healthy.

"Eating healthy is more expensive" is a copout. It can be more expensive, if you get sucked into the "organic is better" marketing and buy all your shite at Whole Foods. There isn't anything wrong with buying cheaper conventional produce/meat, dried beans, or frozen veggies.

I would say your correlation might possibly have some merit to it but not because of cost of food. If anything it is laziness. Lazy people tend to be fat and unsuccessful.

You beat me to it. Successful people tend to have self-discipline and understand the benefits of delayed gratification. These traits guide the way they live, eat, work, and even choose a mate.
