I was talking to one of my students who is a soccer referee for younger kids.

Had a few crazy stories about how bad parents were at youth soccer games.

We just wish there was a “medium” level. Not slap dicke nonsense that’s not even worth doing compared to ultra competitive frustration. Would love to have competition but not stupid try hards out there to prove something.

I only yelled at my son, but I wish I could have yelled at other preppies kids on the team as well. Parents almost never know the rules, most of them don’t even know where to sit.

I used to ref soccer games. The worst was being a linesman because parents definitely did not know how offsides worked in soccer.

Most teams who play out of the back and knock it around ‘correctly’ lose in U11-U13 years anyway. The kick ball teams with the fast kids up front shine...until they don’t.

I didn't realize it was boo krewe until too late

"Virgin who worked at Disney and who mentors kids about things he doesn't know about" is by far the worst schtick on this site

Or a ‘high kick’ or a handball...or really anything.

I had a mom follow me up and down the sidelines crying once because I flagged her son for being offside and it wiped away the goal he scored.

IT WAS THE ONLY GOAL HE'D SCORED ALL SEASON!!!!

This was a U16 league.

Parents would scream like they wanted my son executed for fouling a kid. It was a foul, it was called...if he does it again he’ll get his name recorded...move the frick on. He’s center mid, you’re gonna foul, they’ll foul him as well.

My son played both until last season. He was losing interest in baseball so he decided to stick with soccer, football and golf.

With that said, I find the baseball to be a little more extreme than soccer. Baseball coaches wearing the matching uniforms and the matching truck and trailer crack me up. So pathetic.

The parents of both suck equally.

Anything soccer is worse than any sport. Soccer is for those that can't play football, baseball, basketball.

I like how you put baseball in with sports that require athleticism. Those giant, goofy cleats they wear let you know they mean business.

Neither are insufferable if your kid enjoys it. The only thing that is insufferable are overzealous parents, and no sport is immune to them.

Soccer parents can be ruthless at times.
