I feel no matter where (even pick up), they expect you to tip. We love eating out but tip based on merit, yet these guys glare at even a 10% tip. When did these servant class scum get so spoiled?

Hand them the receipt upside down and leave before they turn it over, problem solved

I don't care what I am picking up or getting delivered: $2 for pickup. $5 for delivery.

When I have a decent waiter it is usually 20%

Great service: 25-35% or whatever I feel they deserve over that.

I have given no tip before for shitty service.

People are buying into Mr. Pink's reasoning.

Yes, yes it is. If you don't tip, you'll be hauled off to the back alley, shot in the head, and stuffed in the dumpster.

if you go to a place often, it is a good idea to not get a bad reputation with the servers

if you are on vacation or rarely go to a place, what value are you receiving from tipping? You have literally received everything from the server by the time the bill is offered to pay.

Receiving tips is now a sign of the underclass.

As a former server, I can appreciate great hospitality. I think the least I have ever tipped was 15% and that was for terrible service. At many restaurants, if you don't tip above a certain percent, the waiter has to pay to wait on you for their mandatory tip-out to other employees like bussers and hostesses.

You sound broke af

Having this much angst towards waiters and the 'servant' class must really suck.

Honestly you are the one that comes across as scum.

It is out of hand now. I always tip really well, since I used to get paid off tips. But I felt bad the other day when I went to the burrito shop and only left about 2 dollars change in the jar. Then I started to think that my bill was only about 10 dollars. So that should be enough. But I'm tipping everybody about 20% now and feel like I'm cheating them if I don't. I'd really rather just pay more and not have to think about it or be forced to do performance evaluations when I'm trying to enjoy a meal..

Keeping menu prices low and not paying employees minimum wage or higher is also a choice.

Don't complain when restaurants put an end to all the tipping stuff and start selling a hamburger for $20.

I don't tip for pick up unless they did something extra or went through extra trouble for my order. When this first started, I tipped a couple of times because I was surprised and didn't take time to think it through but I don't have a problem anymore with just signing the ticket and leaving.

Screw that

I waited tables every summer during college it and would always hear the hostesses constantly whine about not being tipped for putting a to-go box in a plastic bag and handing it to someone. You're being paid min wage bitch, shut up.

for the record, you were being paid minimum wage as well (if not for the generous nature of your dining guests)
