Had GI that refused to give me PPIs

If I was really hunting for drugs, why couldn't I just buy them OTC and take two pills instead of one?

This is the first thing that came to mind. You can choose to go to another provider...

1-800-MEDICARE
This is the number to report issues of possible fraud and complaints.

So...good job

I'm not saying OPs mom planned to do that. I'm saying they unknowingly raised every red flag possible. Pain visit with kid. Pain visit again with irritable kid. Not directly asking for narcotics and even stating they didn't want them.

Dude,

She was pissing blood.

So are you saying not only is she a smart drug seeker, but she had her son punch her a few hundred times in the kidneys until her piss turned red?

Ok honestly I stopped reading.... but will say that an order has to be made before a blood test can be made. You stated no provider (NP or Dr) was at the clinic. So it makes sense that blood couldn’t be drawn.

If there was no provider, why was he given an appointment?

This tale sounds off.

That's my thought here. I've never been to a doctor's office where there was no doctor present, even if the appt is to be seen by their PA/ARNP (but maybe that's a thing?).

Like others have said, it will be very interesting to see the EOB for these visits.

I don't know what it was, but his post read like someone who was looking to get pain meds and is upset he couldn't.

Is your Mom on Medicare? I hate to sound rude, but no one that takes Medicare actually cares. They do what's called separation of care, which means that different people all do something different for/to the patient so that they have plausible deniability if something happens and they get sued. It's hard to track down who's responsible when multiple people have seen the patient. And even harder when the patient is shipped between various different locations for treatment. They all do something wrong, but can point to the problem as coming from the place they were at before they got there.

I'm in the Health Care industry and know about this, but witnessed it first hand a few months ago when my mother fell and had to go to the hospital. She actually got worse, not better, because each facility under medicare only has so many days with a patient before they stop getting reimbursed from the government. So they find somewhere else for the patient to go and fudge the patient file a little so when a lawyer in a couple of years tries to go back through and find a lapse in care, nobody knows nothing.

For those of you that think Medicare for All is a good thing, you better be careful what you wish for. The people that work in the government can "never" be fired, so why should they care if they give you good customer service when you call in to complain? It's not their money or family member, so why should they care? The answer is they don't and it will only continue to get worse if everyone is forced into it. They can give everyone a free bus pass, but if there's not enough buses, what good is that free pass going to do you? End of rant...

Because she recently moved and our small town had no drs within about 30 miles. This place is 5 miles from the house and she needed to see them to get the referrals to specialist.

I am inclined to believe that there is more to this story. Clap back if you want but c/o back pain, c/o kidney stones, etc are classic complaints of drug seekers. I am not saying your mom is a drug seeker at all, I am just telling you that is a common ruse.

She has ample evidence of kidney stones, and the back issues which np could see thru the olol online records. We understand that drug seekers use these excuses. She just wanted a urine test and an xray or mri or the back issue and blood test for her blood disorder. She said right up front to them that she wanted testing to see what was wrong. I would think the np would be able to access the state website that shows that she has no history of getting scripts for controlled drugs.

I don't think this is medical fraud, but bad medical care and practices.

I would only consider it to be fraud if they charged you for seeing a specialist copay each time but she only saw a nurse practitioner.

That happened to me at an orthopedist this year, I should have complained, but didn't. But I never went back too.

Yes. Then find different care.

First visit was because she was urinating blood, possible kidney stone ( she has history of them).
Painless urination of blood (hematuria) could be from a kidney stone. So could the back pain BTW, depending on where it's located. But there are several other potential causes. It's not the kind of thing to blow off without a diagnosis.

There are also some drugs or foods that can occasionally redden urine. Ex-Lax, beets, etc. A U/A would rule those out.

Are you sure?
You might phone a urologist to see. Their office could probably sort out insurance reqs for you.

Only if she had a DEA license. Otherwise, no access. Now, her collaborative MD will, but it doesn’t sound like he works there very often.

It wasnt the baton rouge clinic but is part of the olol syatem.

quote:

That is terrible medical care and Scruffy would support the filing of a complaint against that clinic.
Where they can be hurt is what they billed for those visits. They probably overbilled.

Thanks scrufy that is exactlyvwhat i think they did, the billing fraud. I am going to find out what they charged the insurance company.it is also taking advantage of the elderly.

and

Who is the irritable kid in this? Mom and i are adults and i never spoke to the np.I was sitting in the parking lot in my truck

But how is refusing narcotics a red flag? She stated she did not want them, they make her sick and would not
accept a script for one. Plus we were under the impeesion that an np cant write narcotics anyway as far as we know. ( looked it up now and apparently they can)They

Ps i could not reply earlier as myy internet went out right after i posted.

Thats what we dont understand, at TWO of the appts there was NO dr or np which we were not told of until after we got there. That is why i say it is fraud and want to find out what they claimed that treated me by doing.

There are NO drs with this clinic. Even when she picked them as a primary care they told her to choose the name of a np who doesnt even work there anymore.

Mom also chose them because she thought they didnt prescribe narcotics since she avoids them.
