Brought mom ( no pics) to her new drs visit at a nurse practionioners. First visit was because she was urinating blood, possible kidney stone ( she has history of them). They refused to do a urine tests, saying that was not a concern at that visit and schedule her another visit a week later.

There were no docs or nps in the office that day. She also has a blood disorder that requires monthly blood test but again, they would not do it.

So i take off work to take her to the 2nd visit that they scheduled. Seems they had her come in simply to check her blood pressure ( which she has NO issues with). Told her there were were no drs or nps in office that day to do anything else. Just a 2 minute bp check and she was dismissed. Am i right to be i infuriated about this??

3rd visit was the same. She went in for a known back issue and again was denied any care, no testing and mom simply wanted an rx nsaid. Np refused to examine her, do xrays or to prescribe meds and lectured mom on narcotics even though mom made it clear she does not want them and cannot take them.

Np continues her "im not going to give you narcotics or an rx nsaid" bs so mom said "once again, i dont want fricking narcotics. Im leaving because you are wasting my time and my insurances money ". She got up and left.

We are considering calling the insurance fraud line because this is straight up bs. I want to know what type of visits she was charged for because they did nothing at any visit and only saw an np once for 3 minutes who did absolutely nothing.

Call them out and see if they'll bluff. If they admit to it, there is your leverage, if not, call fraud dept and see.

I am in the medical field and if what you say is true, then call the State Medical Board in your state and file a complaint. They will investigate and get back with you.
I am inclined to believe that there is more to this story. Clap back if you want but c/o back pain, c/o kidney stones, etc are classic complaints of drug seekers. I am not saying your mom is a drug seeker at all, I am just telling you that is a common ruse.

Call the fraud line. They will not pursue it if nothing is there to pursue.

THey have a lot of those clinics in New Orleans that do this with groups of folks at a time to defraud Medicaid.

And then find a new doctor for mom.

Prescription NSAID's are not a narcotic nor are they a medication sought after by drug seekers.

OP- Check her EOB and see what they say. Then contact the State Board of Medical Examiners if you have real concern. Maker sure you document details of each visit.

I would stop going though...

You need a new doctor. The fact that you put up with this for 3 visits is concerning. Blood in your urine needs to be checked.

How did you find this dr office, did someone refer you?

Doesn't sound like fraud to me, but may be incompetence. Like someone suggested, contact the medical board.

Why did you bring her back for a second visit, much less a third?

That is terrible medical care and Scruffy would support the filing of a complaint against that clinic.

Where they can be hurt is what they billed for those visits.

They probably overbilled.

Is this her doctor?

See if you can make an appointment with the highly regarded Dr. Josef Mengele. Just tell his nurse that the Butcher of Buchenwald referred you, and you'll get right in. He'll know what you mean.

This is a big complaint I have when I go to see the doctor. I am so afraid of not having my complaints taken seriously because I wonder if they’re gonna think I’m just looking for drugs. It’s especially bad when I’m having abdominal pain and no other symptoms.

Quit trying to catch people looking for drugs and treat every case individually.

Next thing I would do is ask to see an actual doctor before going somewhere.

You want to see an NP for routine allergies or a cold, fine. I am not seeing an NP for peeing blood.

Smart drug seekers ask for nsaids first and then complain they aren't working.

So...good job

I'm not saying OPs mom planned to do that. I'm saying they unknowingly raised every red flag possible. Pain visit with kid. Pain visit again with irritable kid. Not directly asking for narcotics and even stating they didn't want them.
